I was referred to this Michael's by a friend to have a picture framed. The framer was helpful and nice at the time I placed my order, and she seemed to clearly understand my instructions. The frame that I brought for my new picture came from our RV, and I told the framer that it was very important for her to use the existing wall mount on the frame as it latched into a receiver mount on the wall in our RV. I asked that the original mount on the frame be moved from portrait aspect to landscape to accommodate the new picture, and she said that would be no problem.
When I arrived today to pick up my picture, our mount had been replaced with picture wire...which I could not use in our RV! When I inquired about it, the framer told me that she had thrown away my original mount! My job had just been completed right before I arived to pick it up, so I asked the framer to dig through her trash and locate my mount. She found the mount and affixed it to the frame, and I accept it and thought all would be well.
Not so! After driving 3 hours home, I discovered that 1. the mount had been bent, and 2. it had been attached with different screws. The original screws were flush mount, and the screws she used are pan-head screws. The end result is that the receiver mount on the wall in our RV now does not accept the original mount attached to the frame!
In addition, the job looked sloppy. The paper backing on the picture was not cut and attached evenly, and it was pulling away from the corners if the frame.
And finally, the job was not ready on the date promised. When the order was placed, the framer said it was an easy job that could be completed in 48 hours, and she asked when I wanted to pick it up. I told her that since it was a 3 hour drive to come back to get it, I would not be back for a week. She promised it would be ready on yesterday. As it turned out, I was a day late returning. On my way in to town today, I called to confirm that it was ready, and I was told that my job was just being started.
Not only am I not happy with their inability to follow clear instructions, but the overall quality of workmanship is lacking and they do not complete work within promised deadlines. Overall...I'm very dissatisfied and unhappy. Will not be...
Read moreService at the register was great! I have a beef with Michaels....They put in a whole wall of self- serve check out registers. Most people, both young and old, computer literate, or not, prefer to be served. NOT happy wiith all those self-service registers. The three cashiers on duty kept yelling at the people in line, "Those registers are open!"Those registers are open!" No one wished to self-serve check out, but despite that fact, the clerks kept yelling at us anyways. They were going to annoy us, and yell us into self-check out submission. Did any of you management efficiency expect genuises ever take a poll to and ask the customer if they would be interested in working for your company, without pay, might I add, to check out their own merchandise. I wish to speak for myself, and many other people with a resounding empathic, NO!!! We would like helpful, friendly service please. NO on the self-service checkout! NO thank you!!!! AND when we continue to stand in line and refuse to be takers of self service, please tell them to stop yelling at us, we heard them the first time. It's really rude to abuse us, by yelling us into submission. May I remind you, that you are not the only game in town, and we do not get abusive treatment at the other craft store. Please train and adjust your sales clerks behavior accordingly (no yelling please) polite suggestions only, which is condusive for a happy and pleasant shopping...
Read moreMy comments are squarely limited to the framing dept. As a result of my wife's art projects we utilized the services of the framing dept extensively on many of her projects. We have always found the entire staff of the framing department to be exceptionally professional, they seemingly excel at every aspect of anything related to framing. The framing department has a impressive and vast selection of all aspects relating to all things framing. We started becoming increasingly concerned over the pricing of services in relation to having projects framed utilizing this establishment. Pricing started rising at an alarming rate, soon it became very apparent that we could no longer afford their services. We sought out and utilized an alternate nearby vendor (Hobby Lobby) which hadn't engaged in unsubstantiated and unjustifiable down right shocking high price increases. While we have always been very pleased with the work of Michaels, we felt we could no longer afford to do business with this establishment and have since moved on to a far more economical vendor. I would encourage anyone with a framing project to get multiple bids from numerous vendors before employing Michaels to do any work. Framing prices here are just shockingly...
