I've been going to Poco & Mom's since they opened on Kolb Rd. Went out of my way to support them during the pandemic because I loved them that much. Sadly, the food is getting to be not worth the cost. Most everyone comes here for green chile. Used to be when you order a Silver City, you'd get a plate with crispy hash browns. Yesterday the hash browns were weirdly undercooked with mashed potato consistency. 🤢

On top the hash browns is green chile sauce. Yesterday I could barely taste it but one of the few pieces of green chile tasted like roasted green chile, another piece tasted exactly like canned green chile. Are we stretching our green chile with subpar canned green chile, that telltale sour taste from the citric acid they use to preserve it. There was literally like a tablespoon of green chili sauce on there. it didn't spill onto the plate like it used to. Some sort of strange shrinkflation You think green chile aficionados aren't going to pick up on?

Next, get a cook that can make an over medium egg - dippy not snotty, test the cook's egg foo before they jump on the line. This BTW has happened the last three times I've been there. I usually send them back, but I think I'm about to give up. I came home and made my own eggs so I could actually eat the meal without gagging and I put my own, much better, green chile on it.

What the hell happened to the beans? They are usually on the thicker side. Yesterday the batch was so watered down I had to eat them with a spoon. I mean New Mexico isn't known for their frijoles. But dang, maybe some more that shrinkflation, double the batch with water? They had absolutely no flavor but that can always be rectified with the green chile sauce if there had been any on the plate that I could spare. As you can see, I put some cheese in the middle to melt and get some flavor.

The flatbread aka New Mexico style tortilla was over microwaved, hard as a rock. Or it had been sitting out for a considerable amount of time.

I don't want to see this restaurant close, but keep it up and your regulars won't be coming back. Money is too tight to spend $35 with tip on a nearly inedible breakfast. Do better or we go away. I've brought dozens up on dozens of people to your restaurant over the years and they became regulars.

The service is still wonderful as usual, the wait staff absolutely earns their tips.

I know that you guys don't care about your reviews and I know that you are like "don't like it, leave" but that really will...

I have been going to eat at this Cantina for years. I have been enjoying the atmosphere and the open area in the back. I have been making 80 miles rounds trips from Green Valley for at least 5 years. yesterday when I asked for my usual veteran's discount, the waitress informed me that they are not doing this any longer so there is no more vet discount.! REALLY!? I did say that I was surprised at this decision and said that I am probably not going to be coming back. The waitress did not say anything and took my money and I noticed that she went over to someone and let this person know what I said and this person who was probably the manager or even owner showed no sign what so ever of any reaction. I was not approached or even acknowledged. She blinked her eyes and then proceeded on with what she was doing and I got my change and left a rather small tip and I usually leave a large tip, and I left. so be it, oh and FYI. I am going help you folks let the veterans know. I have access to a general email bulletin board with somewhere around 5 thousand veterans. I will happily send out an attention notice re your business and the taking away of the vet. discount so that maybe now the veterans will have a choice in wheather I cant help thinking that we veterans deserve and have earned better treatment and acknowledgements than this like the place taking away and removing our discount.. too bad for them and I am no longer a customer.. thanks Poco and Moms Cantina! For WHAT? FYI.... I am going to assist you guys in letting the veterans know about this. I have access to an email bulletin board of around 5 thousand veterans at the local va which under the heading of " attention vet to vet" that you guys have discontinued the vet discount. I hope that this will help you get your message out quicker so that the vets in this area are more aware of this and that the vets in this area may not get that surprise the next time that they eat at Poco and Moms. Maybe they will not have to go there to get the surprise so I hope that helps you get your message out to all of us possible before you have any more surprised and insulted vets eating there. thanks and happy thanksgiving to you all so very kind and considerate individuals in...

Third bad experience. To start, I took my fiancé there hoping for a better outcome. When we arrived, we were greeted by the host who stated it would be a 30 minute wait because “the kitchen is backed up”. Ok. We put down our names, asked for a menu to take a look and sat down. Multiple other parties came in, some stayed to wait or to sit in the bar area after being told it was “free seating”, some left. While we were waiting, a second hostess came out and started chit chatting with the other one. Another staff member, presumably from the kitchen, brought a plate out to her and she began to eat it in front of all of us waiting - mind you, the kitchen was supposedly backed up. Our names were called and the hostess took us to the bar and asked if that was ok. I think judging by the looks on our faces, she knew it wasn’t and proceeded to say there was plenty of seating in the dining area where she took us next. We got to the table - one of about 5 empties. She dropped off our menus and took off. My fiancé came extremely close to sitting on a chair that had almost half a cup of water poured on it so we switched it out ourselves. Our waitress came over with chips (clearly store bought) and took our order. We knew what we wanted since we had 30+ minutes to look over the menu. Our food came out maybe 30 minutes after that. Not once did we get a status update in that time or a refill of chips and salsa. The food wasn’t very good. It was bland and honestly, we didn’t like what we ordered. Our fault, but the server also never checked in to see if we needed anything. We had to flag her down at least 4 times. Once for straws and three other times for sides, like sour cream, etc. The entire time we waited for food and ate, staff was messing about - cooks included. I saw ONE busboy working hard and that was all. Overall, I do...

We did not have a good experience here. We will need to go back at a later date to of our bad experience is normal. Service: We were there about an hour and a half. We saw our waitress 4-6 times. Most of it was after we complained about not getting our food. We ordered an appetizer and two meals. Appetizer came quickly but our two meals did not. We were the second set of people in the dining area when we arrived and ordered. We noticed that 5 other sets of people have came in and received their food. One set of people had a person with the same order as us. We asked a wondering bus boy about it because our waitress hadn't returned in awhile. About 5-10 min later our food arrived. You can tell it was rushed because the food seemed to be thrown together. Taco salad: The shell was over cooked almost burnt(a really dark brown and crumbled when attempting to take pieces off). The inside was good and had a food flavor. The meat(chicken)was dry. I mean really dry. Nachos: Some of the chips were undercooked and were soft. The meat(carne asada) was dry but not as dry as the chicken in the taco salad. It did have a good flavor and the flavor profile was balanced. Messy Fries: These were delicious! I don't know what that white sauce is but it is good. Fries were not crispy. Meat had a good flavor and was not dry. Fried ice cream: I have never been a fan of the cinnamon toast crunch(sorry I don't know the proper name) that is used as a coating. My wife loves it. The place it into a sweet shell. I removed the coat and ate it with just the shell and...wow. If we go back to try again, I will order one with the ice cream and just the sweet shell. We were nearly full when it arrive but we devoured it. It is delicious.
