I haven't been here recently so this is way overdue, I just felt I ought to share my experience because it still upsets me even to this day. When I came in I ordered a vegan egg and cheese sandwich, and the person helping me had to ask me at least 3 times to clarify my order, which I did, but it was very frustrating. He actually said, "Yeah, I know I'm probably in the wrong line of service," or something like that, but he definitely proved himself right because when I got my order, I noticed something tasted weird, and that's because even though I specified many times I wanted a vegan sandwich, it was a chicken egg and dairy cheese on my sandwich. I ate it anyways because the only thing worse than eating animal products is throwing away animal products, but really dude. Why offer vegan food on your menu, and then ask a customer several times to clarify their order, and then still get it wrong?! It was not only disgusting, but insulting to me as a vegan customer for once again feeling undervalued. But vegan or not, I definitely agree with the person taking my order that he really shouldn't be in a position to take people's orders, so I hope that in the time since this happened things have changed. But I don't need to come by and see for myself, just warning everyone else not to let it...
Read moreI came here mostly for the atmosphere of an anarchist bookstore. I got to witness a few people who I assume do not typically associate with anarchist / socialist ideals learn a few things in regards to the importance of black rights, women's rights, and lgbt rights through the artwork on the walls and the nature of the books (which is important within any social movement to reach out to privileged folk who do not understand exactly how they can also help call out injustices towards the oppressed by learning with an open mind), and amidst all that, I've definitely learned a few things too! I'm happy this place exists, especially in a busy enough area. Usually these places are hidden from the public eye, since they do not conform to the ideals of the status quo. I was even genuinely thanked for coming in, and as a queer person of color, that's always very soothing to hear, to be appreciated. Thank you for making this place a thing and having the courage to go against the grain and I hope this place is around for generations to come. Ps- my latte...

Like many a Tucsonan, I had occasioned Revolutionary Grounds in the before time when they were down on 4th Ave and nobody was afraid of a scratchy throat, but rumor had it they were pushed out by rent increases just before the pandemic and lost to the annals of history. So I was thrilled to learn from my momma that they had since moved into her neighborhood and were basically offering the same fare. I dropped by, ordered a delicious double cap and a gluten free choco bar, and was immediately transported to a better time when left/liberals weren't trying to rebrand Liz Cheney as a hero. Lol
Anyway, the book shelves appear to have grown and the new space is generally inviting. The walls are adorned with art and quotes from the radical intelligentsia, and everything tastes great. They even have a couple corners for the kiddos, which is new, and outdoor seating for the sun and disease-conscious.
I'm really glad these folks survived. I'll definitely go back. You...
