TL/DR: DELICIOUS pizza, nice beer selection, INEXPENSIVE date, NINTENDO booths! My wife and I have been looking forward to eating at Transplant since the signs went up! Craft and Transplant are two separate places owned by the same local company (that's the Serial Grillers gang). We LOVE Serial Grillers - the pizza is great over there too - and Transplant's Detroit-style pizza can be enjoyed with a beer. We went for a date night, shared an appetizer (PARMESAN FRIES... came with Green Goddess Dressing and another ranch-themed dipper) and a Pizza (the Spicy Pickle, more on this later). Beers too: there was quite a large and varied collection on tap as well as a cooler around the side of the bar (I took a video of 1 of 3 stacks). Food prices were great: the pizza fed both of us for $20. Beers in the cooler were priced at two different prices, here and "to go". Music was great: the screen on the back wall showed what was playing and what was on deck. The booths along the east wall had Nintendos and big screens! I recognized Mike Tyson's Punch Out, but I didn't want to stare at other booths. :) I was schooled on Detroit-Style Pizza with the explanation on the napkin dispenser: fluffy, crispy crust, light red sauce, cheese crisped on the edge. Dude... so good. The SPICY PICKLE was pretty eclectic-sounding, we went for it: BEST CHOICE EVER. It was crunchy, chewy, salty, not brine-y nor dill-y. Isn't dense-feeling like a deep dish nor floppy like a New Yorker. A touch spicy. Nicely presented, easily shared. Staff was awesome, pleasant; restaurant clean, well-decorated, chiil. A few masks (incl staff and patrons), nice outdoor seating (although last night those damn Tucson mosquitos crashed our date). We took a couple beers to go for our night walk. We'll definitely be going back, get one of those...
Read moreI ordered some take out two slices pizza and some fries. When I was about to get my order I noticed the employees being very unsanitary. They were on their phone's and touching their face and proceeded to handle my food. I also noticed he dropped the utensil he used to get the pizza out of the pan on the floor and proceeded to use it to take the pizza out. I then informed them I did not want the food anymore and asked for a refund. The manager then informed me he would remake the food but not issue me a refund. I did not want the food to be remade and don't like to argue over things so I said ok and left. So they pretty much stole my money. Very unprofessional way of dealing with a first time customer. I will dispute this charge...
Read more3 stars feels harsh, but 3.5 isn’t an option so here goes Pros: Staff is friendly Love having Transplant next door, the food is great and the staff on that side is friendly as well While the can selection is small, the variety is good and the discount on 4 and 6 packs is a nice perk
Big con: I don’t go to a brewery-like establishment to be around children. This place is a short walk from our home and we would likely come here a lot more often, but I’m looking to have fun as an adult. I’m sure the families with younger kids want to have a good time, too, but it would be nice if the restaurant side could be all ages and the bar side could be 21+. If this happened, we...
