I came here with high expectations after hearing glowing recommendations from friends and family, but I left feeling very disappointed. For the prices being charged, the quality was shoddy at best, and it seems to be because of a heavy reliance on pre-packaged and artificial ingredients. Here’s a breakdown of what we ordered: Pineapple Agua Fresca: This was an immediate red flag. You could instantly taste that it was artificially flavored, likely using a powder mix like Zuko or a syrup, with very little, if any, real pineapple. Tostitos with Corn: My go-to snack because it’s hard to mess up, but they managed to. The corn was clearly from a can, which I might forgive in a pinch, but I expected better. More frustrating was the chip-to-corn ratio; it felt like they just dumped the corn on top of a full bag of chips, so once the top layer was gone, so was the corn.
Dubai Chocolate Strawberries: These were average. In my opinion, the ones served at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet are honestly better. Waffle with Ice Cream: This was the most disappointing item. I am positive the waffle was a frozen, pre-made one you'd get from a grocery store. The shape, texture, and taste were identical.
The better part of the experience was the beautiful patio area, which is a perfect spot for a hangout. The pre-packaged candies they sell, like the gushers with chile (which I've bought before at Herradero Carniceria), are really good.
When you think about it, this reveals the underlying theme of the business: customizing and reselling pre-packaged items. From artificial drink mixes and canned corn to frozen waffles and manufactured candy, it’s clear they are choosing the easy route instead of making what they can by hand. It's disappointing to see a local spot sacrifice authenticity for convenience. For these reasons, I have to give this place 2...
Read moreFound out about this place from work having stock of their chamoy tajin candies; this stuff sells out QUICKLY and does not last long. Looking to book an appointment at a nearby venue, I saw that Tanna's shop was in the same parking lot and HAD to stop inside to see what they had. A delicious looking menu of Raspados, I picked up two bags of the chamoy tajin candies and as I went to purchase them, I was greated by Tanna(I'm assuming 😅) with a complementary Horchata! Dear lord was it amazing! I will be back to try the other delicious looking items on the...
Read moreAmazing place!!! A new must-try on 6th Ave. We tried the horchata. The Cheeto salad, Tostitos con queso, tacos locos, mango Italian ice cream, fruta loca and jarritos with rim dip. Everything was so tasty! Hit the spot for chucheria cravings. They have variety in the menu. The whole experience coming here was better than I expected. From the great outdoor shaded patio with nice music in the background. The costumer service was outstanding and the prices are also great. All in all 5...
