The Jackrabbit Lounge — Restaurant in Tucson

I called in advance to ask if the cauliflower was vegan, I was advised on the phone that it was vegan. I ordered my food and disclosed to three different people that I had a milk allergy. It was not until the third person in the resturant that someone finally told me that the cauliflower was made with buttermilk, and they only told me by chance because another food item came out with cheese when I had ordered it without cheese. I personally did not try the cauliflower, but the people I was eating with ate it and said it was not good. Specifically, the pieces were way too large and not cooked properly.

The fries are interesting. I wouldn't say they are bad... but it was not what I expected.

The drinks were all very yummy.

My dining partners enjoyed the sandwhich options and the Mac n cheese.

I ordered the hummus. The pita is not vegan. The hummus was not good...

Live entertainment started part way through our meal. Despite sitting on the opposite side of the building, the music was uncomfortably loud and made conversation impossible. The music did not fit the vibe and theme of the bar.

We were not greeted and had to approach the staff despite them seeing us and looking over at several patrons, as there were no signs directing patrons to either seat themselves or wait for a host. I asked if we sat ourselves or if anyone would assist us and other patrons answered for us. Once we were seated, several patrons that arrived after us were seen to and the staff seemed to wander around like they were unsure of who came in when. After serving others who arrived after us, we waited to see if we would be helped - but the waitress passed us on the way back to the bar and did not even look our way. The staff either didn't notice or ignored us as we gathered our things from our empty corner and left the restaurant. From the time we sat to the time we left, we were not even looked at for 15 minutes while waiting. We came here for a date night and were extremely excited to see the menu and great reviews. Unfortunately, nothing gave any indication of professionalism and we left to eat down the road. Unsure if we will give another...

5 stars because of how pleasantly surprised we were by the food! Many great options on the menu but last night we had a cup of the mac n cheese and an order of the bacon wrapped dates. Mac was good but bacon wrapped dates were amazing and a very generous portion of 9 to an order. We ended up ordering a second portion even. They were out of an ingredient needed for the banana daiquiri so we’ll have to try next time and in general the drink menu was very interesting but I was surprised when my mai tai was just built in the glass instead of shaken first and then rum float on top. I was part of a group of 4 and we are all in the bar/restaurant industry on what was supposed to be industry night but we couldn’t figure out what the industry special was, aside from the awesome DJ.
