El Taco Rústico — Restaurant in Tucson

I visited this restaurant recently and was extremely disappointed with both the service and overall experience.

When I arrived, I walked up to the counter and stood there for about eight minutes before anyone even acknowledged me — only to be told "we'll be with you in a moment." Once I was finally helped, I had to repeat my order five or six times because the cashier wasn’t paying attention.

They also charge a 3.5% fee for credit card use, which seems to encourage cash payments. When I paid in cash, the cashier crumpled my bills, placed them on the counter with a handful of nickels on top, and slid it back to me without so much as a thank you.

Despite the restaurant being only half full, we waited 42 minutes for nine tacos. When our order finally arrived, the rice and beans were cold and the tacos were mediocre at best — definitely not worth the long wait.

Beyond the poor service and food, I was also very disappointed to see that this restaurant does not support the Second Amendment, as indicated by a "No Firearms" sign posted at the entrance. Unfortunately, the surrounding neighborhood is not exactly safe, with a heavy presence of homeless individuals and drug activity on the adjacent street. This policy does nothing to deter criminals, but only restricts law-abiding citizens like myself, who carry responsibly and could otherwise help protect patrons and staff should anything ever happen.

Given the combination of rude service, long wait times, low-quality food, and anti-Second Amendment policies in an unsafe area, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this...

Me and my coworkers were debating on what to try for lunch today. 3 of us wanted to try it out since we eat a lot of food around our work which is on 6th/29th. We decided to order at the park location. The person taking the phone order was nice. Having the option of how we wanted our tripas cooked was good. Food was ready in 15 min. We were so ready to eat! The order was definitely not as expected. Although it “looked” good, it was definitely deceiving. We have considered it as a team to call it the worst mexican food we have tried. Beans tasted like moosh, no salt no seasoning at all, bistek tasted like burned plastic, literally like burned plastic, chicharron in salsa was flavorless, the crispy chicharron was beyond dry and also flavorless, the tripa was ok. And the camaron taco was ok but the caldo it came with smelled like cinnamon tea. The rajas de chile were mediocre as well. Overall the food felt very low quality. We've been wanting to come here for some time now and finally got the opportunity. We are SO glad we did! The employees were so nice and helpful! They were friendly, and quick! They made my daughter something that she could eat with her texture issues that she has and they didn't make a big deal at all. That meant so much to us! She LOVED her food too, and that's a big deal for us!

The food is absolutely amazing! We got quesabirrias, which were delicious! Dipped in the consomme with a little lime, add a little of the green salsa. Ohhhh man!!! LIFE CHANGING! My Husband is a taco connoisseur, and fat kids know food, as we say. Let me tell you, he tried the rojitos de camaron and we ended up getting two more.
