Located conveniently near the University of Arizona, Turkish Kebab House presents itself as an inviting Mediterranean restaurant with an appealing ambiance. As someone who appreciates Turkish cuisine, I was excited to try their offerings; however, my recent experience left much to be desired.
The Positives: The restaurant boasts a pleasant and attractive setting, making it a nice spot for both casual meals and gatherings. Its proximity to the university makes it easily accessible for students and visitors alike. The menu selection promises authentic Turkish flavors, which is always a plus for enthusiasts of Mediterranean cuisine.
Areas for Improvement: Regrettably, several aspects of our visit did not meet expectations. Our server appeared inexperienced and struggled to manage orders efficiently. This led to multiple mistakes, including forgetting to place my daughter's order and failing to bring our drinks in a timely manner. Additionally, the server's demeanor was disappointing; she was not only unhelpful but also rudely informed us not to return, which was both unexpected and off-putting.
Owner's Response: On addressing these issues, the owner was notably apologetic regarding the waitress's behavior. He explained that the restaurant is under new management and assured us that the menu would be undergoing changes. This acknowledgment and willingness to improve were encouraging signs that the establishment is committed to enhancing the dining experience.
Overall: Turkish Kebab House has considerable potential with its charming location and the promise of authentic Mediterranean cuisine. While our initial experience was marred by service hiccups and unmet expectations with the food, the owner's proactive approach and acknowledgment of the issues suggest that positive changes are on the horizon. I am hopeful that with these improvements, the restaurant can truly shine. I look forward to returning in the future to see how Turkish Kebab House evolves and to enjoy the flavors it aims to deliver. For now, it's worth keeping an eye on this establishment as it works through its...
Read moreI had the Adana Kebab here and it was absolutely outstanding! The flavor was rich, authentic, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. The meat was juicy, tender, and grilled to perfection — you can tell it’s made fresh and with a lot of care. It came with rice, salad, and bread on the side, all of which were fresh, flavorful, and balanced the meal really well. The rice was fluffy, the salad crisp and refreshing, and the bread warm and soft, perfect for scooping up every bite.
The portions are generous, so you definitely leave feeling satisfied, but it’s not just about quantity — the quality is top-notch. Everything tasted like it came straight out of a traditional Turkish kitchen. You can really tell they take pride in their food and presentation.
On top of the amazing meal, the service was excellent. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made me feel like a valued guest from the moment I walked in. They explained the dishes and were happy to make recommendations. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and inviting, perfect whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a full dinner.
This place is a true gem in Tucson — authentic Turkish flavors, excellent service, and a warm vibe that makes you want to come back again and again. I’ll definitely be returning to try more of their dishes, but the Adana Kebab alone is worth the trip. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in town. Highly...
Read moreWell...first I want to say that the staff and management here are really good people doing their absolute best to bring authentic Turkish food to Tucson and I love that they opened this restaurant.
We did Take Out which probably wasn't the best idea since we live on the northeast side of town and the food was cold by the time we sat down to eat - (I wouldn't advise take out unless you live close). Better to eat in!
Food: was good overall but nothing was delicious and I think they could've done a better job of seasoning.
Price: $$$$ ouch!!! Sorry, just too expensive! I know everyone there works hard to create lovely food but we just CAN'T afford it for food that doesn't match the high prices.
We'll probably check in again in a few months, the place is new and I think they deserve a chance to refine and improve things - I'm pulling for these good people to get better with a little more time. Minus one star for good rather than delicious food and minus another for being overpriced - with improvement I think I could give them 4 or 5 stars but for now just * out of 5. Good luck to them!!...UPDATE: ate the leftovers the next day and everything tasted DELICIOUS! ADDING BACK ONE STAR so now 4 stars - minus one star only for the high prices! Angel was also terrific to talk to...
