The pastries, cookies and macarons looked really beautiful, so I was intrigued; however, with the exception of their muffins, the flavor and texture generally were far off. I ordered cookies, macarons, muffins, caneles and alfajores. The macarons had the right soft center, and the filling was nice; however, the thin crispy exterior was lacking. The large cookies were pretty, but dry and a bit tough. The caneles, unfortunately, were a train wreck. The exterior was tough and gummy, and the center was dense and eggy. Definitely seemed overcooked and a bit heavy handed. The alfajores were also dry and lacked the delicate buttery goodness that sinks into a soft decadent center. With so many baking errors, I believe Woops may be the right name.
The lady at the register also seemed to be panicking and couldn't pull herself together to get customers served. We were fourth in line and by the time we left, she had a line out the door because she couldn't keep it together. After serving some customers, she proceeded to call for backup on the phone, saying"SOS". And she started taking orders from several customers first and then later getting the items (in a different order), but getting confused about who ordered what, and then having people pay. Completely chaotic.
Also, maybe I went on a bad day, because it smelled like a bathroom inside. And I wasn't the only one to notice. That kind of started it off badly, since the smell of a pastry shop should not come close to an open sewer. The decor is nice and reminds me of small sweet shops in larger metropolitan cities, so that' where the second star comes from. I've read the positive reviews about the coffee, which I didn't have, so perhaps the review would be more positive had I enjoyed a...
Read moreI stopped at woops on a sunday morning to quickly buy a gift of macarons and i ended up sitting there for a light breakfast. As i spent more time at the counter i kept adding thibgs to my order! Haha...the atmosphere was very relaxing with lawn furning in the restaraunt. I ended up sitting inside enjoying the mellow music and the birght airy interior. I ordered a plain croissant which was delicious. It had a light sweetness to its crust which was unexpected. I didnt prefer that...but it was very mild. The iced mango black tea completed my nice relaxing time at this place. The deco is very hipster chic and bright and uplifting. The chairs are not the most comfortable as they are tiny..but they suffice if u wiggle around to find a good balance..lol
Definitely going to be one of my must stop places everytime i visit tucson. Thank you!
I would have loved to try all the veggie options!
I parked a couple of blocks away . Sunday is free...
Read moreThe manager and staff went out of their way to help me thank the nurses and techs who cared for me during an emergency procedure.
I called the Woops in the morning, explained my desire to thank the people who took great care of me at the hospital, and they completely understood where I was coming from. They had in mind the way hospitals have to approach treats under stricter sanitation policies, and worked hard to package their beautiful macarons into little boxes tied with ribbons. They worked all day and put together the most beautiful treat boxes so I could deliver them to the people who worked hard to keep me healthy and safe.
I am so impressed by Woops, not only because they make delicious and beautiful treats, but also because they are dedicated to community, joy, and gratitude. I can not recommend them enough, and I will...
