Really good and flavorful food and cocktails. Unpretentious. Come in, seat yourself. Menu has some unique appetizers (think duck foil gras) and the fish and chips or sandwich features Walleye. Wife and I went on a Fri eve. Plenty of seating tells us we found it before it gets TOO popular. I got the eternal sunshine cocktail, which was very light and refreshing..def a good summer drink. Wife got the From the Ashes... a coffee cocktail, but mild enough to be light a moderately sweet latte. For appetizers we had to get the fois gras toast. Jam was incredible and the fois gras was good... tho I'm used to it being in pate form vs the actual livers, but still texture wise was good. It's topped with a hazelnut praline.
For dinner, my wife got the steak Sammy and in her words was an "explosion of flavor" and the chimichurri sauce was incredible. I got the Walleye and chips. Which was perfectly battered and fried. Had a coleslaw relish and tarter sauce.. I picked the homemade tater tots as a side and was not disappointed.
Server was super friendly and attentive and food was prompt.
Happy hour is $2 off classic cocktails, and $1 off house wine and all beer on tap. Bar holds about 15/16 peeps in a U shape. Some TVs to watch sports in the bar area only.
Only thing neither of us were a fan of was the decor. Looked like either they shopped at IKEA and then got some random black curtains. We're not getting the decor vibe or what they were trying to accomplish.
Overall, a great experience and...
Read moreTried UnCork’d for Saturday night dinner. Service is very good, cocktail was good and I truly appreciate a cocktail menu not heavy on bitters.
Fish n chips were good but half of one piece of fish was really fishy…probably not cut and trimmed well. The green goddess slaw stuff was odd and unpalatable.
The chicken fried duck was a miss - the plate is composed of mac n cheese, fried duck legs in a sauce, and an arugula salad. The mac is one of those anemic, sweet, barely there sauces. There’s a sauce but it’s very thin, no cheesy bite, and soaks into the macaroni instead of suspending the mac in sauce. The duck legs were supposed to be coated in a Nashville Hot seasoning but that wasn’t Nashville Hot. No heat, no sweet, and just bitter and oily. The arugula salad wasn’t bad, and dressing was good but it was a nest of arugula with a spoon of I think shredded jicama on top. Theoretically the mac should have countered the sweet heat of the duck and the salad should have had enough acid to break the heat and fat. None of that happened because the Mac was sweet and had zero sauce or bite, the duck had no heat or sweet, and the salad got lost in the duck fat.
Might go back for drinks but wouldn’t go...
Read moreA friend and I were looking for a place to have lunch. I remembered UnCork'd had just started serving lunch and heard their fish & chips was good. So we went. Arrived about 2 pm. Not a very exciting place inside. We were the only diners there. We ordered the fish & chips. Fish (walleye) & fries outstanding! The best I have had in Tucson so far. The slaw was an epic fail. Small condiment cup of green stuff that had a weird taste. Glad it wasn't a bigger portion but we didn't eat it after the first taste. Fish & chips should have the usual creamy cole slaw. That green stuff was gross. Service was quick and friendly. Acoustics horrible. My friend is hearing impaired and the music was loud, especially for the empty bar. I asked them to turn it down and they did. They had the door opened, so sunlight came in along with the noise from Tanque Verde Rd.j They need to keep the door closed and get some lights inside. The furniture was not very exciting. We wanted to sit in a booth but they were placed so that the sun was coming in and was in our eyes. I gave a 4-star rating because the F&C was great, but they need to work on the ambiance, acoustics and interior design. Price was typical for our present...
