Competition #3: Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe vs Whataburger Jr. with Cheese In this, our third burger battle, we compare Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe to a Whataburger Jr. with Cheese. Our two competing stores are literally across the street from each other on East Speedway… all clumped together as fast food joints tend to be… McDonalds and Subway are just next door. As we established in the first battle, the burger scale is one to ten, ten being imaginary perfection, our own home-grilled burgers at eight, with fast food burgers limited to a scale of one to seven. A subjective comparison — my personal tastes — each score takes into consideration taste, presentation and value. === Whataburger Jr. with Cheese === The Whataburger is adorned with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and mustard on a plain bun. The burger can be customized; I ordered the standard edition with cheese. I had previously thought they charbroiled the beef, but apparently the meat is flat grilled. It was indeed tasty (most likely from a higher fat content, judging by the photos), but it didn’t have that amazing charbroiled taste. The one predominant taste was that of mustard. I love mustard, but it overshadowed the taste of the beef. Were I to order it again, I’d ask them to hold the mustard. The ingredients were really fresh, as you can see in the photo. The Whataburger Jr. with Cheese clocks in at $4.94, making it about the same cost as the Whopper Jr. with Cheese of competition #2, which was charbroiled and tastier. Service: Just fine. Polite & efficient. Atmosphere: Drive thru, so not scored. Score: 4 out of 10. Reasoning: Beef didn’t have the charbroiled flavor I love, and Mr. Mustard was heavy handed. === Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe === The Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, catsup, and mayonnaise on a plain bun. Comparing the list of ingredients and looking at the photos, these two contenders are very similar, Wendy’s Jr. with catsup & mayo Whataburger’s Jr. with mustard. Turns out those condiments make all the difference in these sandwiches. Whereas I found the mustard overwhelming with the Whataburger, the catsup & mayo totally dominated the Wendy’s Jr., abundant sauce dripping off the sandwich as I ate, making it a soggy mess. I barely noticed the pickles or onions and… “where’s the beef?" Oh, it’s there… just can’t really taste it for all that sauce. The beef was also more dry than the Whataburger, as you can see in the photos — overcooked or not as much fat. So the Wendy’s Jr. is pretty boring, but at a very attractive price. Certainly better and far more economical than the Big Mac of competition #1 — at $2.49 you can buy three of these sandwiches for less than the cost of a single Big Mac ($7.71). However, it was not as good as the Jr. Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger of competition #2, which was fresher, not saucy soggy, but more expensive ($3.68). And, no, it wasn’t as good as the Whataburger, due to the saucy soggy consistency. Service: Just fine. Polite & efficient. Atmosphere: Drive thru, so not scored. Score: 3 out of 10. Reasoning: Beef grilled, not charbroiled, no beef flavor, too much sauce, rather soggy, an overwhelming taste of sauce. Value priced at $2.49. === Results === WINNER: Whataburger Jr. with Cheese (4/10) ALSO RAN: Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe (3/10) === All 3 Competitions’ Competitors’ Rankings === 6/10 — Carl’s Jr. California Classic Double Cheeseburger 6/10 — Burger King’s Whopper Jr. with Cheese 4/10 — Jack In The Box’s Jr. Jumbo Jack® Cheeseburger 4/10 — Whataburger Jr. with Cheese 3/10 — Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe 1/10 — McDonald’s Big Mac

I really did enjoy eating at this Whataburger restaurant. the girl who looked to be like a manager because she was wearing a white shirt she was so friendly and chippery that she put me in a good mood. She asked me what I wanted and I had a question from the menu I asked what is what is exactly the water sauce that they have on their chicken.she wasn't sure how to explain it so she was kind enough to go into the back and get me the guy who makes the burgers to come and explain to me how would actually taste. they even offered me a sample before I ordered which I declined because I figured I probably like it anyway. Everyone else was friendly they seemed well-staffed and our food came out as we were sitting down at the table it was super fast and fresh. I did witness them wiping down the tables in between customers so that's great. It wasn't as crowded so that's good. there was some shady people it isn't the best neighborhood but some police officers walked in and we felt a little bit safer. even as we were walking out that same girl who I think was some kind of a manager yelled thank you and have a great day to us and I yelled back thank you same to you. So this location does have some great training with customer service.

Update from Feb 28, 2024: I am subtracting another star because the shake was not even full... we love Whataburger but have been seriously disappointed at the latest decrease in the amount of food served on our order. Update from 7-28-23 Brody was very cheerful during our interaction in the drive- thru. Only one complaint: while I ordered onion rings, I received French fries instead. Original post: As always, the green chili double and onion rings were great.... unfortunately, the amount of onion rings in the large container didn't even reach the top. This was the only drawback to this visit. We even tried the new white chocolate raspberry shake and definitely were not disappointed! I'm not sure if my 4 rating actually is accurate to help, but my husband wasn't happy with the onion ring shortage and so I had to deduct a star for that. Update 12-12-22 The new chili cheese burger is really good.

Wataburger had been a staple of family being able to go take the whole family to go eat some awesome Home made like very inexpensive food. . .once apon a time.....They're known and have built their reputation on Homemade Biscuits and gravy and the patty melt....Well They still Make Homemade biscuits...BUT Depending on Who's cooking whether You get a Fresh Yummy Flaky Biscuit....Sometimes You Take it home with ur mouth watering....Just waiting to sink Your teeth into something Homemade (sorta ) ...BUT Then Only to find that the Cook didn't follow Protocol in throwing Out The OLD Biscuits From the evening and YOU Are Now a proud Owner Of a Hockey Puck Biscuit .....And Yes one wud Think.....Awww Man...I gotta Go Complain...Only to Have to wait maybe 30 odd Minutes For the manager to make it right ...And then this happens ALOT So You Call corporate office. ..So The Manager Gets on the cooks Butt...and things are wonderfully Back to fresh Biscuits.....Then DANG ....They Did it to me AGAIN! ...Really....Don't they remember They built their reputation On those wonderful Homemade Biscuits?? I Even Gave them a year off from my routine Morning biscuits and started going elsewhere...Being WHO really wants ALL that trouble from Just a $2 biscuit and gravy ? THEN start going back and things start Out GREAT. ...Then It happens AGAIN and AGAIN. ..Sad. .hopefully the District Manager Will See this blog or review lol...as I truly Do Prefer to Buy my biscuits At Wataburger. ... (I'm Eating the Taquitos nkw Lol) . They've Won't battle...They Can Keep the Hockey Pucks ....Once called a fresh Homemade experience ...I just Hope they care enough to Pay more attention to What the cook is doing and Do not Just go On the Cook Just Showing up everyday and the manager assumes he's doing His Job correctly. ...Come on Wataburger....Restaurants are closing every day ...especially the fast food restaurants. ..Now they've got Grub hub and other Driver services....Folks are really wanting a fresh Meal whether it be morning Noon or night and NO Fast food restaurants No Longer Can Just serve ANYTHING. ..Kuz They're the only ones open at that time. ..I know There's ALOT of people Who Depend On the income Wataburger provides to sustain their families ....So let's start Caring again and Get those Standards Back to Where Wataburger Once honored and never wavered from in the past...thank you...and this is mainly wrote due to me wanting Wataburger to get it together. ..so I Can Once and gain enjoy those wonderful FRESH Biscuits...

Worst experience I've ever had!

I usually don't take the time to post reveiws, but this experience deserves the effort!

I went through the drive-through on my way home from work. It always takes an extensive amount of time for this location to prepare your order, so I was expecting a 10-15 minute wait, like is usual.

We'll, when I got the front of the " pull forward and wait" line, the entire staff came bursting out of the door screaming, yelling, cursing, and throwing what appeared to be either food or trash at a homeless guy. This went on for about 5 minutes or so, and then they went back inside.

I sat there and was asked by multiple staff members with food in their hands if it was mine, but it wasn't. I mentioned to each of them how long I had been waiting, and they said they would check on my meal, but they never came back.

After waiting for 30 minutes and watching no less than 6 other vehicles behind me get their food and leave, I finally called one of the employees over and asked what was taking so long, and why everyone behind me got their meals first. He asked for my receipt and said he would get it for me. I ordered 2 large fries and 2 burgers. About 2 minutes later, he brought me my food and said that he threw in a brownie for me and apologized about the wait.

That was great! However, my meal only had 1 of my burgers in the bag with my 2 large fries. So I drove around, parked, and went inside. I let them know I only received 1 of the burgers I ordered, and he took my bag. And went and got it for me, and brought my bag back. Stupid me did not verify, and I drove home. When I got home, I had 2 burgers and only 1 large fry. He took 1 of the fry orders out when he gave me the other burger.

I am completely done with this location! First off, it is called a fast food restaurant. Drive through customers should not have to wait at least 10 minutes after they pay for their food to be ready when you have at least 8 people working!

Waiting 30 minutes, watching the entire staff all but get in a fight, watch at least 6 people behind you get their food before you, to finally get your order, and it isn't right, and to go inside to get it corrected, and they messing up again, is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! All for a free brownie...

I will NEVER be visiting this location again, and I HIGHLY suggest to drive past this location and go to the next...
