Your Mom's House, Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Tucson

This bar which use to be under it's former name Jeff's Pub. It's not a typical bar I would hangout at. But I've been accompanying a friend there who plays poker for the last several weeks now.

Yesterday 05/15/2025 I was there & sat at the outside bar. I ordered a Heineken. The bar tender a Caucasian female. She tells me she needs to run my debit card first & is charging me a quote unquote authorization fee of $25 to run my debit card plastic form or digital form. When I questioned her about it she immediately starts act frantic & dramatic blurts out that she not dealing with the matter & will go get the owner. She returns several minutes later & I asked her with this owner person is at? She replied by saying "Oh do you really want me to get him?" She goes inside & returns with a short Caucasian man. I asked him about the $25 fee. He couldn't even look at me with a straight face & give me straight answer. His answer was that it is a normal fee they charge typically for open tabs. On top of whatever your end balance will be. I stressed to him that I never heard of such a thing let alone I hadn't been assessed that fee in the last 5 times I've visited that bar. He then tells me that the fee is solely up to the bar tender to charge a customer or not. I recited some consumer laws & asked him why he doesn't have any type of visible signs informing customers that they could be or would be charged that $25 fee & why. He replied by telling me he was waiting for those signs to come in via shipping.

Lol most places would simply post a paper indicating such a thing.

Mind you this bar has poker tournaments on another side of the building throughout the week. Until yesterday I had never been charged that $25 fee. Everything about that fee is suspicious. Either the fee is being charged & goes to the the bar tenders as a tip, or the fee is being charged to help cover the "house" money it is using in those poker tournaments, or maybe because I'm black they thought I wouldn't pay them, or this place is simply scamming customers.

Unless you play poker I would not recommend this bar to anyone who is looking for a different bar to frequent. If you do go here monitor your tab closely as well as your payment method. BUYER...

Five stars because 6 is not an option! I stumbled into this place expecting your average bar and grill on one night of drinking and bar hoping. I've been there before the name change in the past (was not too crazy about the old regime)

Lets start with the women behind the bar... absolute rockstars. Not only can they mix a mean cocktail, but they somehow manage to do it with sass and charm and radar like intuition for when you just need that next round. Friendly, fast and funny. They're half the reason I stay longer than planned (The other half was the wings, and my jack n coke obviously.). Fellas, they are not hard to look at either haha.

The new Owners, You can tell they actually care. From the revamped menu (few new items) to the energy in the room, it clear there's a fresh heartbeat pulsing through this place. Its like the bar got a glow up and invited everyone to the afterparty. When I went to "Jeffs" 5 years ago it smelt like old men, smoke and brute cologne. Not the case anymore!

As for the vibe? Think Cheers meets modern dive. Where you feel like a regulars even if its your first time through the door. Laughter, great music on AMI (you can pick your own music) or sometimes even a DJ! Also a great balance of lively without being too chaotic and loud. The special events in the back room are fun too: Karaoke, Comedy, Bands, Poker, Bingo). I'm not too into beer bong night but hey, seems like the people who show up love it.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a place with good bar food, top shelf bartenders, and an atmosphere that makes time fly, stop looking because you found it. I now go frequently and...

Jeff's was so fun, had good staff for the most part and great food. Now the staff is rude, have terrible personalities and are miserable to be around. On top of the atrocious atmosphere this creates, the food is not even comparable to Jeff's. It is disappointing and a complete waste of a night while also being way too expensive for the quality of anything you see or experience here. It seems crazy to be so awful AND have a stupid name that a 12 year old boy could've come up with. I saw them take multiple people's drinks they have already paid and I am talking full pitchers. I was next to them and I had no issue- they were polite to us and were minding their own business. Well, the staff did not like that they were being a bit louder than others, but it's a bar and nobody had a problem. I have never in my life been somewhere where entire pitchers- I saw at least 2- were taken away without reimbursement. We were appalled and it just seems like everyone is a bit too cocky and way too rude for such a terrible place to spend a night at.
