So, I have been wanting to try African cuisine for a while now. My wife and I were close by this location, and I wanted to give it a shot. Little did I know I was about to try some of the best food I've ever had. Mind you, this was my first time trying Fufu too! Anyway, I ordered the oxtail, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The thick, tenderness, and juiciness of the meat combined with delicious flavors made it almost impossible to stop eating. The Fufu, typically made of plantains or yams, soaked up all the delicious flavors, and it was also fun eating with my hands. The fried plantains and rice were a perfect combination with that oxtail. It's a little on the pricier side, but the experience and memory are all worth it. They also have great customer service, and the lady who worked there helped me pick out certain items since it was my first time. Im telling you, if you are afraid or have never tried this type of cuisine, dont skip it next time. I think you will be just as surprised as I was...I'll be back and thank you, Afrikan Delights for such a great meal. 👏👏

This restaurant is located in The Mother's Road food court which was recommended to me on my visit to Tulsa. I selected this restaurant because the menu selection looked interesting, the decor was bright and inviting, the counter and what I could see of the food prep area looked nice and clean. My questions about the menu were answered thoroughly and with a smile. I ordered the small build a plate with grilled chicken, jollof rice and sukuma wiki (collard greens) with the spicy vava sauce. I also ordered the stewed beans (black eyed peas) and goat suya. Everything was delicious but I really liked the tender and flavorful goat suya. This jollof rice was the best I've ever had so far. The only thing I would change is that the serving side of the collard greens be a bit more generous! But, If I'm ever back in Tulsa I'd visit here again.

We were so excited to try African food at the state fair this year. We found this restaurant at the OK state fair. We asked for jollof rice, goat meat and some plantains, it was 47 dollars. I told him I’ve never paid this much for African food. This better be a lot or really good food. The menu also was weird because they had a build your own plate with step 1,2,4. We asked where was step 3, and apparently they messed up on the poster. When we got our food we felt really robbed, the quality was ok, the best was the veggies, the rice was not in any way jollof rice. I’m a big jollof fan and that was closer to plain rice. I’m aware state fair food is expensive. But this was a very sad experience. Everybody that is African knows this much food doesn’t cost this much.

Hate to leave such a low review. I am southern African, and my husband is west African. We were soooooo excited to find a spot that sells not only fufu but ugali, too. We typically make our own food but decided to order in last night. I got samosas, beef suya, egusi, & oxtails. To be honest, the best part of the order was the fufu and ugali, which says a lot 🫩.

The disappointment started the minute we tried the suya - the meat tasted pan fried, & there wasn’t a discernible taste of suya spice to be found. The onions used were white onions, and they tasted as though they had been sautéed. IYKYK.

The samosas were alright but the filling could have been better seasoned. The second one I had seemed filled with potatoes, instead of beef like the first one. So that was disappointing.

The minute my husband opened the egusi, he mentioned that it didn’t look or feel right. Upon tasting it, he remarked that it was a decent effort with elements of an egusi soup, but it certainly wasn’t egusi.

The oxtails were the worst part. I have made many an ugali and oxtail dish. I have skimmed the fat off MANY ox tails. I have slow braised and cooked an endless amount of Dutch ovens full of oxtail. I don’t know what meat they sent in my order, but I am certain that it was not oxtail. There wasn’t a single bone in my order, there was no distinct tender, fall of the bone, rich flavor of oxtail. For $40 a serving, the offering was abysmal.

All in all, the meal was fine. But I don’t think it would scratch the itch of someone looking for a taste of “home”. Having said that, though, I am keeping in mind where we live and the target population. And for those reasons, I think Afrikan Delights is a fine introductory experience for people looking to expand their pallets. I would not say it was particularly authentic, but it wasn’t terrible food.

I don’t think we will return and can’t, in good conscience, say that I’ll recommend it to any of my friends. I’d rather cook for them myself. I am glad, though, that this spot has found a home in Tulsa, and I truly...

Manager is very rude. I called to speak with her about my food being burnt tasting and black burnt pieces in the soup she was understanding and wanted to correct the issue. I let her know I couldn’t come pick up until the weekend. She was okay and wrote my name down to remember. I asked my daughter to pick up for me and called and spoke with the manager and she was okay with that. My daughter got there and was loudly yelling at her calling me a liar speaking with her crew and putting on a seen I told my daughter to let me speak to her. I told her we spoke and you were more than welcome to fix the issue. I said I spent $50 dollars on this meal she immediately said she’s a liar our food isn’t $50 I told her it came up to that amount because I ordered delivery and tip she still was very rude. She said okay you want another one and my daughter said she grabbed the smallest bowl she had in there and told my daughter they were out of meat. My daughter said she was embarrassed and never want to go to the M.R again. Please be aware of what you also experienced with this restaurant. P.s the small order she sent had a horrible taste immediately throw it away. Completely disappointed with this business and what is even worse I took a picture to show the burnt parts, because I new it was gonna be a couple of days before I could get out there....
