UPDATED REVIEW “The Best salsa in Tulsa!” I love all of the food, but I probably eat more taco salads here than anything on the menu. They are fresh, filling, delicious. Take your pick, chicken or beef, you can’t go wrong. Ask for the salsa picante. It is fantastic. I could drink a bowl of it with a straw. The owner is a super friendly lady. She takes pride in her clean little restaurant. It shows. The service is attentive. The authentic food is one of my favorites. The restaurant has been recognized as one of the best in Tulsa by local newspapers and magazines. Check the walls next time you are there. Located just a few blocks north of Route 66.
PREVIOUS REVIEW A very good Mexican restaurant, with a history of recognition for its food and service. Cancun International’s salsas (hot and mild) are unrivaled by any Mexican restaurant in Tulsa. It is consistent in flavor and freshness, visit after visit and always delivers a perfect start to a meal. I had the best wet Chili Colorado Burrito in Tulsa and my wife had the #2 combo: enchilada, tamale and a taco. The tamale was shredded beef. The enchilada and taco were packed with ground beef. Everything was well seasoned. The refried beans really stood out. They were perfectly creamy smooth and flavorful. I could have eaten a bowl of them. The food is delicious! The proof of this claim is documented. I was amazed as I looked at all the recognition this restaurant has received. The walls are covered with newspaper and local magazine articles attesting to the quality of the food and service over its past 25 plus years of operation. Local diners have chosen Cancun as their favorite, year after year. If I lived in a nearby neighborhood, I would be eating here, way too often. The folks working in here were very nice. The restaurant is spotless. Every time I have been to Cancun the owner has been busy cleaning. Excellent, friendly service as always! An inconspicuous little restaurant that fills your plate with some of the best Mexican food in Oklahoma. Eat...
Read moreI used to eat here every other day, almost 20 years ago. The last time was probably 10 years ago. Nothing like it used to be. I went Saturday 4/3/21, for lunch. There were only a few people there- very odd for a Saturday at lunchtime. When asked what we wanted to order, my boyfriend's friend, asked for something from the lunch menu. The lady's response was "No! Only Monday through Friday". They could have offered the meal at a different price, instead, she told him he would have to pick something else.
The chips were warm but stale, the salsa tasted good, but was very watery. All 3 plates, came out of a microwave. I could tell, because the outside border of all the food, was cooked more than the middle. Then there's the shrimp I ordered....you could have served me little pieces of tires and it probably would have had the same consistency. microwaved. And the shrimp was sliced in little strips. Who does that? So, I got little curly pieces of garlic-flavored rubber.
10 years ago, 3 people could've had lunch there for $20. It took us $55 to walk out the door. Kinda broke my heart. I was so excited to eat...
Read moreIn nearly fifteen years eating at this restraunt I have never had a bad meal. My whole family loves this restraunt and we eat here often enough they always remember us. They have so many wonderful dishes it would be hard to choose a favorite. Thier carne asada is particularly good. Thier service is excelent and friendly. Thier menu is very large for a small restraunt. Endless fresh hot homemade tortillas and fresh salsa refilled regularly throughout your meal. Portion size is generous, most meals are larger than normal and the price point is about what a combo meal at most drive through chains would be. If you love authentic mexican yucatan peninsula food this is the place to get it. Don't miss out on one of Tulsa's...
