I have avoided this Mexican restaurant because the parking lot is usually packed and because of the name, Del Mar. I don’t eat much Del Mar. I prefer “de la tierra,” as in carne asada, pollo, carnitas and an occasional bag of spicy chicharrónes from Kum & Go. I do have one favorite though, from the seafood side of the Mexican menu, Camarones a la Diabla. Fiesta Del Mar serves the best I have had anywhere. Fresh shrimp and a real Diabla. It had heat! Red spicy fiery chili sauce. Perfect. Next time it will be the fish tacos.
My wife had the Wet Burrito, Steak with salsa Verde. Look at the picture. It is beautiful. The burrito was as tasty as it looked. Filled with beef and covered in a tangy green sauce.
Communication with the staff was a little rough, but it worked out. I believe the waitress was a little concerned or in disbelief, when this old gringo ordered the Camarones a la Diabla and the salsa picante for the chips.
The restaurant is small. Getting a table could be a challenge at peak dining hours. Not much English spoken here and very few gringos. The service is friendly and fast. Table service with complementary chips and salsa.
This restaurant is certainly an overlooked gem by me. 21st and Garnett is the epicenter of little Mexico. I would bet you that there are more Mexican restaurants withing a ¼ mile radius of this intersection than any other area Tulsa. I have dined at most of them. The two that I would pick as the top contenders are Doña Gloria’s Restaurant (across the street N side of 21st) and this one, Fiesta Del Mar. Two excellent restaurants.

Read morecoming from chicago, i knew off the bat this place was gonna slap. the parking lot, building itself and the entire dining room screams authentic iykyk. so many places focus on image, and all sorts of superficial bs. not here. we ordered talapia diabla with alambre+pastor tacos. for 12.99 i got this massive, beautiful fish coated with a killer sauce and the rice even came with avocados too. my woman got the tacos and they are so incredibly flavorful, packed to the brim on soft white corn tortillas like a true genuine taqueria should. they came with radish!!!! real bell pepper and onion and amazing steak bits all for $2 a taco. seriously, we are absolutely blown away. 10/10 recommend this place, it will...
Read moreHad the pollo tacos special (three street tacos with rice and beans). Fantastic flavor, moist chicken topped with onions and cilantro sitting in perfectly cooked corn tortillas. Green salsa was a wonderful topper for the tacos. Chips were excellent. The star of the show was the poblano pepper Gordita. Sautéed peppers, corn, and cojtia cheese inside a crisp, but not crispy corn tortilla like pocket. Enjoyed the meal thoroughly. The owner was exceedingly nice and recommended trying the cactus Gordita next time, which we definitely...
