This place is worthy of a good review. There is effort and pride put into this food and has very unique flavors. It was very refreshing not to have the same cr*p brought out on a plate that is not close to being authentic like almost everywhere else in this town. The appearance of the platters where excellent and after tasting it we all loved it. That is five people who always have different opinions about every Mexican restaurant we've been to in Tulsa and never all agree that any of them are any good. The only reason I have to give this place 4 stars is the salsa. The standard salsa was bland and tasted processed, not homemade. The spicy was a little better but still not impressive. I can say the chips tasted homemade and not out of a bag, but it kind of defeats the purpose when the salsa isn't great. The only other thing is that some of the food was being put in a microwaves which indicates sometimes its not fresh. I understand you cant keep everything warm in ovens during a slow part of the day but if its the first time you go to a new restaurant its kind of a red flag. We will be back again when we are on that side of town. Very nice people and I hope they do very well with their new...
Read moreI feel many reviews on this place are invalid so I hope to set it straight. The salsa is tomato paste. The spicy salsa is seeds with a dab of tomato paste. But you shouldn’t judge a restaurant based on just their chips and salsa. The service was nothing to compliment either. It took 40 mins to get our food we ordered. While we waited we heard a waitress on the opposite side bragging about how much she vomitted the night before, partying/clubbing. Picture that while you eat your cold thick queso. We did. Then when the food arrives it was cold and we could tell it had been sitting for some time. Topped with cold hard queso and what we thought was chili sauce was actually dry old red sauce. Whatever that is. I know I’ll never get my money back but I can at least sleep at night knowing I saved someone else from wasting their time and hard earned money on this place. Read the reviews. Filter out the ones that are fake made from friends of employees. We should have gone to bueno. Damn, even Bell is...
Read moreIn other reviews I have explained in extraordinary detail the difference between a “smothered” and a “wet” burrito. Your memory has been imprinted with the inerasable, graphic image of a wet burrito. You will never be fooled again. You know where the best wet burrito in Tulsa is served. I promised, next up was smothered. Not just “smothered”, but “Double Smothered” All y’all, get in the car. We’re going to Neives…. to have the best Double Smothered Burritos and Double Smothered Sanchos in Tulsa.
Understanding the double smothered difference…….
