Perfectly Greasy, Unpretentious, and Affordable Red Wagon is, in my opinion, the best burger joint in the Olympia area. The meat is perfectly seasoned, cooked, and appropriately fatty (I would guess their ratio is 70:30 or 80:20). It makes for a Let It Sit For Too Long And You'll Have A Wet Hamburger Bun experience -- which is what a thicker burger like this should provide. The veggies on the burger are extremely fresh and of high quality. The fries are delicious; I imagine they soak and then dry them to bring out the starch for a crispier - almost breaded - exterior. The onion rings, which seem to be dredged in an Italian bread crumb seasoning are absolutely amazing. Service is friendly, there's a decent amount of seating, and orders seem to come up within a reasonable amount of time (8-10 minutes for an slammed restaurant cooking to order). Red Wagon won't change your life but it'll make you very happy when you're craving for a burger. Everything we tried was delicious - with the acception of the fish and chips - which was okay (and importantly -- fresh). I'm just not a believer in anything but purely beer-battered fish fillets. They claim that theirs is "both" (beer-battered and breaded), but you're better off tracking down an Irish pub for real fish and chips. If you're craving a greasy Americana burger at a fair price, this is the spot. Highly recommended.

Noticed they were using an old Quizno's open/close sign, so I knew I was in for a ride - in a great way. No line, instant service. Prompt food delivery (I didn't have to go get my food at the counter) and while I was eating, there was a line that developed but it disappeared just as fast as it formed. "Atmosphere"? I know why I'm here - there was a big TV playing Diners, Drivers and dives that customers (or the staff) could take a gander at while I waited about 5 minutes for my food. Finally got my Bleu cheese and bacon burger and fries and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh and not your standard Aramark restaurant faire. 1/3 lb advertised burger was on point. The bun was, to the shock of absolutely no one, fresh as hell. Fries were specifically not mass produced. I don't think they were in-house fresh, but it was a really good fry. Bid myself adieu and then later decided to write about it, which is where we are in the story. TL,Dr - it was really good. I'd definitely recommend for anyone looking for a superior sit-down burger ($20 for a meal) for not much more than jack-in-the-box prices ($15 for a meal).

What a delicious surprise! This is my first time eating here. I ordered a California burger and my wife ordered a jalapeno burger. I say without any exaggerations that this is the best burger ive had in all of puget sound. Compliments to the Oriental cook. We watched him work with such skill and diligence. Ive tried pretty much every top rated burger place in the area, and this one takes the trophy. The ingredients were super fresh and crisp. The meat was tender and high quality. These were not commercial frozen burger patties. They were definitely handmade patties. To conclude this review, These burgers are delightful! The french fries were also the best french fries ive tasted anywhere! Yes, you read that right. Best french fries ever! Ps. This is where I will go for all future burger cravings.

Took an overnight trip with the wife and kids down to Seaside Oregon and stopped here along the way. It had great reviews on yelp so we anticipated some good eats.

The place is quite cool and they have a nice outdoor seating area. They have a huge selection of beers and the menu is large. For the most part, there was nothing really special about most of the food. My daughter couldn't finish her chicken strips because they were not good. I had a fish sandwich that was actually pretty good and dressed very well with red onion, pickles, lettuce and tartar sauce. My wife had a burger and the actual meat part was very tasty but the toppings were so full of moisture that her bun fell apart and she ended up having to eat her burger with a knife and fork. When she reached the bottom of it, the moisture had deteriorated the paper in her basket and I'm pretty sure that she ate some of the paper. The fries, onion rings and deep fried zucchini were just bleh. Probably straight out of the freezer and into the fryer.

The worst part of our visit was that it seemed like the cook could only make one order at a time. All four of us in our party received our food at very different times. My wife's burger came out pretty quickly but then we had to wait. Then the chicken strip meal showed up followed 5 to 10 minutes later by the next meal and then finally I received my sandwich. What do you do in that situation? Sit and wait while your food gets cold so that you can eat as a family or do you dig in and just sit and wait for the rest do finish after you're done?

It wasn't horrible but it wasn't as great as all of the yelpers reviews made it out to be. Next time, we'll skip the Red Wagon and opt for someplace else.

Thanks...

I drive past this place all of the time and based on the amount of state workers I see eating there during the week I thought it must be pretty good. They have a huge sign advertising Philly's so that was what I tried.

I've eaten Philly's all over the country and understand that there are different versions, but I think this one was a fail. It was hot, it was fresh, and the portion size was goo, but it had no flavor. It was basically ground beef with onions and mozzarella cheese. No green peppers, no mushrooms, just hamburger onions and cheese.

I ordered it as a meal with onion rings because there is nothing better than homemade onion rings, and while they weren't bad, they did seem like they came out of a bag. The bigger issue is that you get 5 onion rings. Why not 7? For $15 it seems like they were sort of skimpy on the onion rings. The service was OK, but I had to ask the girl at the counter if my meal came with a drink because she was talking to the other teenage girl on shift and never gave me a cup.

I see a lot of glowing reviews about the food and maybe the hamburgers really are that good, but based on the greasy philly I wouldn't count on it. Others have lauded the great prices. $15 for a greasy/soggy flavorless sandwich, 5 passable onion rings and a glass of tea is not a great price.

I will not likely eat here again. Meconi's is right across the street and makes a better Philly...
