**Came back a year later and their service is still TERRIBLE! We were seated rather quickly, however, they helped everyone else who was seated AFTER us, first. After 10 minutes of watching this, I finally had to go ask someone to please provide us service. Definitely will not be returning here. Not worth it. The food tasted hot and fresh. I ordered both steak and chicken items to taste the flavors. The chicken was pleasantly seasoned, and I would order another chicken item in the future. The steak had moderate gristle, but was also seasoned well. The steak enchiladas had good flavor, and not too spicy green sauce. The taquitos on the appetizer were over cooked and had “crunchy steak” inside. The steak fajitas were delicious and seasoned well. The service was a bit lacking and much to be desired. El Jardin has been a Turlock staple for many years, but it seems their service is consistently lacking. They have a small indoor dining area, as well as outdoor dining, and an indoor patio area that could hold a larger crowd. Overall, if I didn’t have anything to do for the rest of the day or was not in a rush, I would return. Be prepared to wait for your food, as it seems they are often busy.

Absolutely FREEZING in the dinning room. Food was strictly mediocre. I had the chimi supreme with whole beans. The beans were flavorful but unfortunately, they covered all of their food with cotija cheese which was too strong and basically ruined what might have been delicious. The “steak” in the chimi was chewy like bubble gum. The chimi itself was mostly tortilla with little filling. They covered the sour cream and guacamole in cojita which made them I edible. It was ordered with red sauce and came with sour watery green sauce poured all over the chimi making it soggy. I did order a basket of flour chips which were warm, toasty and delicious but seriously how could you screw that up? I don’t know if they were having a bad day. The dining room did not have very many people in it, and it made me wait for about five minutes before they sent me had a table which was bizarre. The cabbage served with the salsa was good.

El Jardin Turlock has always had a good reputation for delicious Mexican food. Their service during the dinner hour, however, leaves a lot to be desired. You can typically expect to wait for them to take your order after at least 15 minutes. Then, you can expect another 30-1.5 for your food. So, although they have great chips and salsa and many tasty dishes, you’ll need to make sure you are not in a hurry when you dine here. There is a large patio area which Is very nice, and they do have heaters they can turn on if it gets cool. You never feel pressure to leave, so you can also expect a nice leisurely time to chat with friends if you choose, which is a plus. Note: Since originally posting this review, the service time has greatly improved. The food is good as always!

My wife came home from a lunch with a large group of friends today, and from what shes telling me, im extremely dissappointed.

First of all, they had tried to make a reservation a couple days prior, but were told that they couldn't make a reservation for Friday or Saturday nights. Upon arrival, they were asked if they had a reservation or not, and then were told they couldn't sit in a portion of the restaurant because it was "reserved".

Secondly, the service was poor! Their group was hardly checked on, to the point that someone had to get up and find a server to ask for a refill on water!

Lastly, there was a mandatory 20% gratuity on their check, but out of 15 people, my wife and 2 others were the only ones that ordered anything. I understand that some restaurants have mandatory minimum gratuity for large groups, but the check was for 3 people! In total, they paid over $60 for food that was basic, bland, and not-notable.

In the end, if you're a fan of being ignored, overcharged, and underwhelmed, then this might me the right...

I really wish I would have read all of these reviews before I had the shocking experience of eating at this place. I went with my family for my nephew's graduation lunch and there was a total of seven in our party. Three of these people were children. We arrived at about 12:30, by the time our food order was taken, it was 1:30 (and thats because my brother in law had to hunt down someone to take our order). We saw our food ready and waiting in the window for approximately 10 minutes before anyone bothered to bring it out. Literally we saw people come in, sit down, order, eat, pay and leave before we even got our food! I have NEVER been ignored in a restaurant like that. I've worked in the restaurant industry before and have ALWAYS given the wait staff the benefit of the doubt. However, this sorry excuse for customer service is UNACCEPTABLE! I'm glad I was not the one who paid for this meal, the only tip I would have left them would have been a note that read: "Take some lessons on 'Good Customer Service' if you want...
