TLDR: Pizza is good, parlor is big, very casual, and kind of beat up.
First off, the pizza was good (primary concern of pizza place).
They don't appear to have any lunch specials. For my review I got a small combination (pepperoni, linguisa, mushrooms, olives) and a drink, and had left-overs.
Pizza attributes: Medium to medium-thick crust. Good amount of cheese. Generous (if irregularly spaced) amount of toppings. Crust is "crunchy", with a toppings-(mostly)to-the-edge style. Seems to be a bit charred, possibly in response to an earlier review. They appear to use flour to stop the bottom of the crust to keep it from sticking (as compared to corn starch or such). Sauce is pretty good: lightly seasoned and tomato-y. Slices cut unevenly.
The restaurant itself is a little confusing when you come in. the hallways goes both up (into the restaurant) and down (into some other room). It seems to have it's own particular aroma, which I didn't care for. The booth I sat in had several cuts/holes in the seats, and some kind of dust and/or crumbs near the wall, as if it hadn't been swept out in a long time, but somebody had sat there recently.
There are a few large TVs that play sports events...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't wait to come visit my mom from San Diego just so I can enjoy some damn good pizza from Juras. I moved away from Turlock 16 years ago and still have never found another crust like Juras. I never have to order extra cheese...they pile it on for you just beacuse thats how they make pizza. They make it RIGHT! My mom and Aunt are happy I told them about Juras. They moved to Turlock 3 years ago. Now they only order from Juras. I love the new space they have. I was scared when I came into town a few months ago and saw the old building was closed down. The new space is what they need! It's always worth the wait no matter how busy they are. I think I have been coming to Juras for 24 years. I moved out of state, and this was the first pizza I ordered when I came to Turlock. I posted a new photo because it's still the same... consistently year after year. Last time I visited I flew home with my pizza and didn't share it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI gave this place a second chance after being absolutely disgusted at the old place. Not coming back. Every table was dirty. When I mentioned it the girl she said oh thank you. There were three girls standing in the kitchen area doing nothing. The owner wandered around aimlessly and showed no interest in whipping his employees into shape. The pizza came and I was immediately disappointed with it due to it having those little sausage pellets on it that you would find on a grammar school cafeteria pizza. The crust tasted like the only ingredients were flour and water and it had the texture of a cracker. The large pizza would be a medium anywhere else. The building is definitely a step up but won't be nice for long without regular cleaning. The tables were still dirty when we left and the owner was drinking at the bar. Looked like a really bad episode of kitchen nightmares! Don't waste your time...
