I wanted to love this real bad, I’ve heard nothing but great things—aside from them being a bit pricey—but our experience was less than pleasant. We order the gumbo, side of queso, ground beef queso birria, mangorita, corona, 2 don julio shots and of course you get the chips and salsa.
The chips tasted stale but the salsa was chefs kiss—loved it! Queso birria tacos were excellent, I’ve never had them with ground beef but they were flavored beautifully. The gumbo was the beginning of my experience changing. It took my by surprise to see these tiny morsels of meat but I was truly taken aback when I took a bit into the unseasoned chicken and shrimp, I’m not sure if 3 shrimp is the standard but that’s what I got. I mentioned this to our server and she said well I know the steak is seasoned because I eat that all the time, I can have them make you some more chicken but it’s gonna be a while—we only have 1 cook for the entire restaurant. I empathize as a human but as a patron, you having one cook is not my business—I’m paying for a service and good food. Her response was not what I was expecting but I waited…she brought me back a few strips of chicken this time. I was surprised there was only one type of hot sauce in the restaurant when I asked for Cholula but not a deal breaker. So then my partner ordered a mangorita and the waitress brought back this large very orange drink—we looked and just decided to keep it and try to enjoy it but it was truly too orange flavored so we left over half a glass. He then ordered to Don Julio shots and she asked if he wanted salt on the rims, he said yes and then looked at me to make sure and I said sure. There were no water refills and I found out during us taking the shot my rim had sugar, his had salt —that was awful. I mentioned it to the server and she said, I thought you said sugar? I was perplexed how she thought that when I wasn’t even the one who placed the order. At this point we were both over...
Read moreWe came here on a Wednesday night 3/19 and honestly I came here more for the birria tacos. We waited 10 minutes before being approached by anyone, they gave us a basket of chips with salsa. Then 5 more minutes later our actual server came by took our drink order. And took our orders as well. We never saw her again until we were ready to pay for our bill. The first person who approached us with the salsa actually had to grab me a refill on my drink. I ordered my daughter a beef burrito off the kids menu and there was a bay leaf inside the burrito. I cook with bay leaves and they are supposed to be taken out. And I just found this to be dangerous cause if she was eating big pieces she could have choked on it. But the first few bites my daughter was making a disgusted face. I personally don’t like ground beef so I didn’t try it. But my husband even said it sucked it had no flavor. Their taco prices are too expensive in my opinion. Anywhere you get birria tacos they are like $14-16 for 4 tacos. Here they charge $5 PER TACO. So I ordered two and then I also ordered a traditional shrimp taco with sour cream also $5 per shrimp taco. The sour cream was $1 extra for 2 ounces of it. The shrimp taco had no flavor but the shrimp was boiled and they didn’t even drain it good cause it was just dripping water with every bite I took. But the birria taco wasn’t bad it wasn’t the best but it wasn’t bad either. My husband got the birria pizza and that was sooo bland no flavor what so ever. And when I think of birria I think of consome and cilantro and onions all it was was cheese and shredded beef. The consome was on the side and that’s the only Thing that could “save” the pizza and even then it wasn’t doing it justice. My husband was so disappointed and then his drink was horchata and it was legit water and cinnamon. My husbands words exact “you can’t pay me to...
