The Heritage House Coffee Riverfront on Jack Warner Parkway is a must-visit hidden gem! I hope the locals realize and appreciate what they have, I could tell that they do by the consistent influx of patrons, the countertop service moves rather quickly! The quality is top-notch and the execution is unparalleled. Their breakfast menu and lunch menu are available from open to close. I spotted this place outside my hotel window from across the street. I took a stroll over, and I am so happy that I did! Customer service is genuine, personable, professional, and not forced, they warmly greet you with bright smiles and truly care about your experience and enjoyment. JD, Leah, Krisrina, Grace, and the rest of the team went above and beyond, their hospitality is warm, accommodating, hospitable, welcoming, and memorable! The food and drink service is made quickly to order! This place has a great energy and ambiance with an antique charm in aesthetics, using repurposed facades, a couple of my favorites are the antique spiraled stairway leading to wherever your imagination takes you, and the antique light fixture and mini chandeliers! The place has a special charm and spirit with different views to gaze upon and helps to spark the imagination. There is plenty of seating with access to plugs for studying, writing, business simply relaxing while sipping on a cup of tea or a latte. What impressed me the most was the impeccable execution of their unique pastries and variety of options! Their biscuit recipe is by far the hands-down best I've ever tasted, they would win first place in any biscuit competition across the nation, its beyond blue ribbon quality and rivals any recipe from celebrity chefs I've tried! From the texture to the flavor, there is zero let down! I can't fathom how it could be any better! The biscuit currently only comes in the Conecuh cheddar and is also used for the blueberry scone. The blueberry scone is also out of this world, not the normal dense must be dunked variety! The texture is delicate, fluffy, loaded with real blueberries, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced! I thought that I would only have a few bites and take the rest to go but it instead vanished!
My only request is that they should also serve plain biscuits and breakfast biscuit sandwiches! I would buy their biscuits by the dozens if they added a plain biscuit to the menu! I rarely write reviews it has to either be really bad or beyond good! Speaking of drinks they made a couple of my custom favorites for me, today I had an old time favorite combination of mine the toasted marshmallow white mocha latte, and the execution was superb, rarely is the balance perfectly executed by baristas, because it is hard to achieve, but this drink was a 10 out of 10, my taste buds can not believe that I have zero complaints! Aaliyah did a fantastic job! The espresso is very smooth! Today I had an a la carte breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, cheese grits, bacon, and a conecuh biscuit, again the execution was perfection! The scrambled eggs were heavenly, fluffy and nicely presented, the bacon was cooked to the perfect texture not too crispy and not too soft, the perfect thickness and flavor, the grits were also flavorful and correctly prepared they needed nothing added! If I lived here I would visit every day! The menu here has to be chef-inspired, I appreciate the quality, passion, and consistency in their top-notch execution! Anyone from a foodie to a culinary expert would enjoy what Heritage House by the River has to offer! This sure beats my hotel's free breakfast by 1 million points! There is something for everyone here, please give Heritage House Riverfront a taste, trust me you will not be disappointed! Thank you to all the staff front and back of the house! You all deserve a standing ovation! I wish had taken photos but I was so excited to dig in that...
Read moreStopped by this Heritage House for something to warm up with and a little snack. There are apparently a couple locations throughout Tuscaloosa, but this one is near the Black Warrior River. There are no huge signs or anything, so I never knew it was there until I went looking.
The inside is extremely welcoming and very nicely decorated. It smelled delightful--coffee, cinnamon, and baked good galore--and I imagine it would be a great place to study.
Unfortunately, I was in a rush, so I grabbed a hot chocolate and a chocolate chip scone to go. The two gentlemen who rang me up and warmed my scone were very polite and friendly. They even yelled after me to keep warm as I was leaving. Awesome service!
My hot chocolate was really good here. The whipped cream on top tasted like magic, and in a way, the chocolate and milk tasted like Coco Puffs (a good thing!). My scone was tasty too, especially since it was heated up. Gooey chocolate chips with a faint cinnamony flavor, and a large portion too!
I enjoyed coming here and look forward to when colder days are more frequent, so I have an excuse to stop by and try...
Read moreI’m pretty into pure nitro/regular cold brew coffee and I think I’ve tried both Heritage Houses’ cold brew enough to say it’s pretty mid, usually not too bad but never anything special either. Earlier today I ordered a 12 oz cold brew black and it came with a ton of coffee grounds floating around at the bottom, and it tasted kinda weird on top of that. I was already on my way home and in a rush so I couldn’t ask for another. My girlfriend’s also had multiple bad experiences ordering drinks here: they almost always add regular milk to her drinks after she asks for almond because of her severe lactose intolerance. I’d say the Northport location usually has better service and a better vibe but Starbucks has better coffee and they’re more consistent. I’m only giving them two stars instead of one because the inside is nicely decorated and clean, and I’ve heard some of their pastries are...
