We went to the District for a late movie showing. The film ends around 9:30PM. We check around for food. Korean: closed. Japanese: closed. Thai: closed. American: closed. There's only one restaurant with the light on. THIS very store. We went in and time jump ahead for 50 years. You get a bowl, and then get to the open fridge to get any ingredients you like. And by any, I mean anything. Vermicelli, instant noodle, egg noodle...✅️ Tofu, tofu skin, bean curd, mushroom, 7 differeny vegetables... ✅️ Fish ball, meat ball, imitation crab, beef, pork... ✅️ Even the exotic one: quail egg, duck blood, beef intestine, tripe... ✅️ We get a bowl full, and it costs $13/lbs ingredient. Then we pick a soup base and a cook will make it hot, fast, and delicious for us. Our meal costs around $18 and it's plenty for two for a late night meal. The arbutus juice is a nice extra: natural and not too sweet. In an area where every store is closed by 9PM, this restaurant stays open until 23:59PM. Overall 10/10 experience and it's a must try if you want to live in the future like...
Read moreDecided to try this place out during lunch and really enjoyed the experience and food! The veggies and meat items are kept behind a refrigerated mesh screen so it’s nice to know there are no bugs just landing on them. I got the classic spicy with medium level and I think that level has the perfect kick to be able to enjoy the hot broth and food. I asked for it because packaged as to-go and the care they put into their packaging is very much appreciated. They provide a mesh bag so that your bowl is secure. When I got home it was still very hot and enjoyable. The flavor was perfect. Very oily, but that’s expected of the beef tallow soup. Price was about $22 for a heap of food that I couldn’t even finish. I think for a “fast food” place $22 might seem steep, but for the quality you’re getting it’s worth it. Especially as it’s a family owned place trying to stay afloat in this plaza that has more rotation in businesses than anywhere else. I will be coming back and happily supporting...
Read moreMy husband and I recently visited this place for dinner, he had been here once before so he was showing me how it’s done! Essentially you just grab a bowl and some tongs and pick out whatever you’d like in terms of veggies, noodles and your protein choice. Afterwards you get your bowl weighed and you choose the type of broth you’d like and how spicy it’ll come out. We only spent about ~$50 for just the two bowls. The cashier attending us was incredibly nice! He even gave us free small drinks and the coke was delicious. They had calming music and beautiful visuals from a projector on the wall. Some of my personal favorites were the spinach noodles, rice cakes, bok choy, their mushroom selections and one of their pork options that looked like sliced sausage as well as their sliced beef. Definitely will be coming back again. I’d recommend for casual dine in as it’s definitely a hole in the wall...
