Stopped in here after watching free music at the downtown park. We ordered a pizza with Canadian bacon as one of the toppings. We also opted for the Waverly Inn sauce. While the waitress was attentive, she was blunt and not really friendly. She brought our drinks and just plopped them down without saying anything and walked away. Same thing with ordering the pizza, it was like speaking with a robot. I read several of the reviews where they stated that it was a really long wait to get their food. I've never done this before, but I set my stopwatch to see how long it took the get our pizza after ordering. It was about 50 minutes. We were going to wait 10 more minutes and walk out. As with other reviews, the waitress came by and told us how our pizza was just about ready and would be out soon. It was almost 15 minutes later. Same as before, she simply plopped the pizza down and walked away. She was just takin' care of business with no customer interaction or hospitality. For the pizza, it was pretty awful. While we did enjoy the crust, the Candian bacon was the saltiest we've ever eaten. It was like dumping a mouthful of salt with each bite. The Waverly sauce was overpowering as well. We will stop back again but won't order Canadian bacon or the Waverly sauce. We had pizza left over and asked for a "box." The waitress brought us a tiny Styrofoam container that was too small, and we had to stack the pizza slices on top of each other to make them fit. This sucks because the pizza slices stick together when you want to eat them later. Another note, we had friends staying across the street at the Cobblestone Hotel. They wanted to call in an order and eat it outside on the hotel patio. After calling several times, the bartender at the hotel told them that the Waverly doesn't pick up the phone on weekends as she knows from first-hand experience watching guests try to call and order food and the Waverly doesn't answer. Pretty sad. I would recommend that people try the pizza here but skip the Canadian bacon and get the regular...
Read moreThis place seems to be a very popular place for everyone to visit with each other and have a few drinks and some great food. This day was the day before my wife and I 's 40th anniversary. Immediately after walking in we noticed some folks that we had met at the local history house the Washington house. We ordered drinks my wife had a wine and I got to see "beer TV" which was a monitor with all the prices of the beer that they had on hand. I settled for a tap it was an Oktoberfest pretty good I like dark beer. We got some appetizers which included, a soft pretzel with beer cheese and some kind of light on the mustard dipping sauces very good.! Also the mozzarella logs. Are very good waitress who seem to be taken care of the whole restaurant by herself? took our order for our meal way after we were finished with their appetizers. We were in no hurry it was nice to sort of people watch too not sure if people were watching us? This being Halloween weekend there was a pretty cool guy in a Ninja turtle outfit. We ordered a steak sandwich and a mushroom swiss Burger plate with fries. The combination of great food and well the two beers I had made it a great evening of food and fellowship. Yum will definitely be going back when we are...
Read morePoor service. Weeknight, and waited an hour and 20 minutes after food order was placed for food to begin to trickle in to the table. Server basically ignored our group of 8 after about 30 minutes of waiting. One hour after ordering, server returned to tell one of our party they " just ran out of prime rib" for his order. Poor quality of food from the kitchen. One burger burned beyond recognition. Two haddock sandwiches torched in a similar fashion. One burger delivered with condiments specifically ordered "without". Owner did her best to apologize. (The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1). This is my second time at the Waverly with a group of 8. Our first experience was only slightly better. I'm delighted that someone cared enough to want to preserve part of the history of our City. Go for the drinks, or the history of the building.... Eat somewhere else... either before, or after your " happy hour". I have been burned twice. I won't eat...
