Happy's Fish House — Restaurant in Tyler

My kids and I took my wife there for her Mother's Day meal. We did not have to wait the 30-40 mins as expected to be seated which we didn't have any problem with since about every restaurant was busy. I ordered the frog legs which was awesome and all the kids meals were great, except for my wife's meal. She ordered the Salmon with the pasta (I believe New Orleans pasta) with some shrimp. The shrimp looked overcooked in which they were and the salmon and pasta meal was a beautifully cooked salmon on top of a bunch of cheese with fresh noodles on top and uncooked noodles towards the bottom underneath all the other stuff. My wife choose not to make a fuss about it since it was very busy, which is NOT an excuse to me for overcooked and undercooked food! My biggest complaint had to be our server whom which we were later informed by a manager that she was new. From waiting long periods of time for refills to getting the ticket and being ready to pay only for her to continue to walk by us and not even stop to get my credit card. To make matters worst was we noticed this with two other parties that she had. You would think someone would say something to her since several workers seemed to notice us looking uneasy since we were sitting right in front of the kitchen. I finally decided to go an ask for a manager in which I believe was the owner I spome with and he apologized and told me she was new and took off $20 from our bill. I will give them another shot because we have had better service and better food from Happys before but I would recommend that a little more attention to mentoring new waiters is needed to prevent mishaps like this...

I definitely recommend Happy's to anyone & everyone! They have a menu packed full of entrees including items for those that don't like seafood & they even serve breakfast all day as well. The prices are very reasonable considering the portions are very large, in fact last time I ordered the Happy's platter & I ate on it for 3 days straight because I had so much leftover. One of the photos I'm including is my leftover bread pudding that I brought home tonight, which I HIGHLY recommend! It comes with a scoop of ice cream & is DELICIOUS!! :) It's a great place for the whole family to enjoy a meal & beverage plus dessert. This is the 2nd time I've been to Happy's & both experiences have been wonderful. They have a fun & relaxed atmosphere with lots of unique decor throughout the whole restaurant including outside. It's almost like being at the ocean without leaving home. The servers are fantastic! Our server tonight was Kierra & I'd like it noted that I give her a triple AAA kudos score for her service tonight, because she was perfect! She was very friendly, patient, funny, attentive to all of our needs throughout our entire visit & she got all of our food out (3 times; appetizer, meal & dessert) to us in a very timely & efficient manner. My husband & I love Happy's breakfast, although at times we eat other dishes. On Sunday- Jan 22, 2023, we ate breakfast. Our waitress must have been fairly new because when we specifically asked for our food to be cooked in specific ways she didn't write it down. therefore when we got our food my scrambled eggs were COLD, my husband's eggs were ordered OVER MEDIUM with whites well done- NOT RUNNY, hash browns well done on both sides-- the whites were so runny I gagged & his hash browns were cooked but by no means well done on either side. We were never asked if we wanted refills of our drinks. While this experience won't keep us from returning, we were very disappointed. I was going to report to manager but didn't because they were so busy, believe me I will find him the next time if this happens. As for the waitress-- she needs more training in how to order food as requested & to follow up on her guests to see if anything is needed. She was young with a blue Happy's tee shirt on, blondish-brown hair in ponytail. I don't like to complain because everyone has to learn but she does need more training & YES I should have reported the issue then but it was busy & we wanted out of there.
