Here’s my honest review of ZaZa Thai.
I knew I had to try this place after seeing quite a few good reviews. Although I saw some bad ones as well, I knew I still wanted to see for myself.
I want start out by saying that I absolutely love the vibe from the moment you walk in, especially all the different decorations, furniture, and the lighting.
I went through their massive menu, which was very nicely done. I really like that there’s tons of pictures of just about every dish they serve.
We ordered 2 appetizers (Vietnamese spring roll and the fried shrimp roll), as well as sesame chicken with fried rice.
My wife enjoyed the spring roll. I never got to try it myself, so I can’t speak on that. The shrimp that came in my shrimp roll was way overcooked. The wonton wrap was also a bit overcooked, but not too bad. The sweet and sour sauce that came with it was actually pretty good.
The chicken in the sesame chicken wasn’t bad at all. Unfortunately the sesame sauce itself tasted like some store bought sauce.
I think the thing that disappointed me the most was my “fried” rice. Like, was the fryer in the room with us? I swear there wasn’t anything fried about that rice. I asked for no veggies in the rice and told the waiter that I still wanted the egg. They definitely didn’t put the veggies in there, but they also didn’t put my egg😭. If I’m paying $2 extra, I want my rice fried lol.
I honestly plan on going back soon, seeing as they have what seems like an endless amount of choices (as seen in the pics below). Also, the prices seem pretty fair to me.
One thing to keep in mind. Aside from the overcooked shrimp and the not so fried rice, everything else is just my opinion and I encourage everyone to...
Read moreNow before I leave this negative review, I will let it be known that we really did enjoy our initial visit was exceptional. Now that would warrant a five star rating.
Now as of yesterday our experience was quite poor. We ordered two sticky rice with mango through DoorDash. The order came in and we only received one. I called DoorDash first and they stated that they can do nothing as they are not allowed to look at the contents of the bag. Makes sense. Called the restaurant and the lady I spoke with was very pleasant and offered either a refund or replace the order. I told her I would call back after speaking with the wife to see what we wanted to do. I called back roughly an hour later while in town while picking up our child. We decided that we wanted the refund because we went through DoorDash for the convenience of not going to that side of town.
Calling back I got the same lady and asked for the refund. She said she would have to put the owner on. While speaking with the owner he started out with an attitude stating he already made the second order and it was already waiting for us. I explained to him that I never stated that I wanted the second order upon our initial call. He wanted to go back and forth. This was when I started to get mad at him. He wanted me to call DoorDash for the refund, I explained to him it wasn't DoorDash's fault for them not placing the order in correctly. He got more frustrated with me and asked me which did I want? I again told him that I wanted the refund. I paused and awaited his response. When he had none he got frustrated and told me he was just going to hang up. The one star rating is solely based on this store owner's lack of composure and unwillingness to...
Read moreFor it being the first week of operating, this restaurant is very well run! The service is top notch, though I will note that I had a slight bout of confusion when I first walked in because I thought they were a restaurant where a host/hostess walks you to your seat. However, once I got that figured out, service was super fast! I had my drink, appetizer, and entree within fifteen minutes of sitting down.
The menu is well laid out and clearly marked, and the staff was very helpful with explaining the spice levels. Those being zero to five, with zero being no spice, and five being Thai hot. I had the pho chicken at level 4 spice, and it was fantastic! The broth was very clear and fragrant, and the thin slices of chicken were very tender and easy to chew. My two, admittedly small, gripes that I have about the food are that the spicy sauce for my pho was served on the side (rather than in it like I thought it would be), and that the basil and cilantro were not already de-stemmed/slightly chopped up. However, those herbs were very fresh and pleasant to eat in the soup after I plucked and let them soak in it for a moment.
Parents do be aware however, they do not appear to have high-chairs for small children/infants quite yet. Though I'm sure that is something that will be amended shortly in due time. Additionally, the two-seat table directly by the side door is very awkward to sit in, especially if you are the one sitting with your back to the wall, due to the arms of the chairs. Overall I would call this a great dining experience for having only been open for three days now, as of writing this. I'm looking forward to eating here again, hopefully with some...
