Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Union Charter Township

First I'll start with, I realize that we are in a horrible time period with the pandemic surging once again and because of that I'm being generous with my rating. Second the resturant was definitely under-staffed because we are at 50% seating capacity and they weren't even at 25% full. That is still not playing a part in this rating because I know we decided to eat out tonight. Third we waited for our drink order to be taken, not a super long time but well passed what we should have considering the amount of people dining. We were still ok at that point. Fourth, here's when the real 'issues' started, the waiter finally came to our table only to tell us that he needed to go take another tables order. So we waited again. The waiting really wasn't the issue as much as every time he came to our table it was to say how 'everything came down at once' (letting us know how busy he was) or that 'he was trying his best' (which we never complained to him about anything) or to say that 'he didn't want us mad at him' (which we weren't but it did get annoying after the tenth time). Our drinks sat at the bar for a long time after we did get them ordered, he got really confused with our order and spent a good amount of time reciting it to us, one person in our party sent their food back because it was cold and another didn't like their nachos (they really didn't look very appealing to me either) and didn't eat them. Credit to them for taking them off the bill. When our food came out he a double order an item and when we told him we didn't want the second one he acted like we should have taken them anyway, but here's the kicker on that, he still charged us for them after he took them back. He messed up our bills all together. Overall it was actually the worst experience I've ever had a Applebee's. Still not sure why I'm giving 2 stars. Probably because I know it's hard to get good...

Just your average Applebee's nothing special. The service was good. Food is average, but it is Applebee's. What else would you expect for a fast food sit-down establishment. The manager on duty seemed fairly ornery. She brought our appetizer to the table. Never said a word. Just kind of sat it down pushed it towards us and walked away. I thought that was interesting. A person in her position you'd think could be a little bit more sociable however, you never know what somebody is going through no matter what position they are at in their life. So I just blew it on by but upon observing her a little more she seemed to be having a really bad day. No social skills at all. I was looking for a honey mustard dressing for my wife's salad. Our waitress was busy running around so I went and approached the manager. She looked at me like deer and the headlights I almost wanted to say. Do you know what honey mustard is? Then I realized there was a waitress standing right next to her and as she turned and looked at the waitress I felt like I shouldn't even be asking. I did not follow the chain of command again. This lady was starting to crack me up by now. I asked our waitress later if the manager was always this way and she kind of smirked and I said you don't need to answer the question anymore. I totally understand it. The waitress replied. We have been really really busy today. I said yes but at this rate I'm thinking I should be down here. Being your boss I would have a way better atmosphere to work in. Most of the staff didn't seem very happy, which is a direct reflection of the leadership. Oh I mean management because leadership sets the tone Management. Maybe they need a leader down there, not a band. See...

We went in for Friday night date night and we were looking forward to a relaxing evening. Applebee's was busy and we had a bit of a wait, but that wasn't a big deal. However, after we were seated, it took a long time for our waitress, Kyenne (spelling?), to even come check on us. When she did come around, we placed our order for both food and water. By the looks of it, she had 4 tables at the most, all in our corner of the restaurant (2 tables of which left while we were sitting there waiting, which put her down to 2 tables). Shortly after she took our order, she checked on another one of her tables and took their orders for refills on wings. We had been sitting there a while and monitoring the people going in and out of the restaurant. We'd been out of water for a while before Kyenne finally came around and refilled our glasses. We watched other tables that came in and were seated well after us get their food. All the other waiters and waitresses were in and out checking on their tables, bringing them food, etc. We watched 3 other tables of people that were seated well after us (with different waiters/waitresses) get their food and Kyenne's table that ordered refills of wings got their refills and our food was still nowhere to be seen and Kyenne was nowhere to be found. We still sat there for a while after all of that, and were sitting there for over a half hour before we decided to get up and leave. We ended up getting taco bell for dinner instead.
