Ponderosa — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

Tried this ponderosa for a 2nd time. Took forever to get thru the cashier, to much talking with customers and other's in line waiting. Salad bar,we'll grabbed a bowl and started making a salad and I get to the lettuce and it's bottom of the bowl, so I get what I could to salvage and I move down, grab the rest of my toppings and then, I go for the dressing and no dressing that I wanted.ok,moving on I grab Cole slaw and sit down in the booth, started my first bite and, slaw is sour! Ok,so I mention to the server and he tells me, you don't have to eat that.ok,I'm not. Didn't say anything to anyone filling the salad bar back up.ok, so I start with my petite steak, the only thing I could eat,which was cooked perfectly 👌. But the fries were so salty,limp,like they were out in the sun all week, OK, so I try the buffet, no butter, regular or cinnamon, empty bowls, no tongs for hot buns,use your hands,which I find very unsanitary and unacceptable for a restaurant! Ok,I grab my drink,it's got 3 cubes of ice, glass not full ,it seemed like somebody's that didn't get finished. OK,! So from this point I just want to get out of there. Server was good, everything else, forget it. I will not return to this store. This and the wifes senior buffet was with tip a 49$ meal.Not OK! What a poor display of American workers. Watched the entire time to see if they returned to the salad bar and fixed The problems, and the one taking care of it,would leave everything empty and leave, come back with 1 refill of something and leave and not return for another 15 mininutes .ok,ponderosa in Clare is how ALL of them should operate, BIG difference and it's only 21 miles to it,well worth driving to,you'll be very satisfied,...

Now to start this, i went in thinking it was like the old ponderosa inside and was sadly mistaken. The place wasn’t super busy (7pm) and the cashier belched within 30 seconds of taking our order, he then made chitchat about how much he didn’t want to be there. We sat ourselves down on the right, by the salad bar. Now I could see the place didn’t look well staffed, but our server came to our table twice in our visit and only refilled 2/5 drinks we had empty through our entire meal. The buffet was limited to mainly chicken/fish, meatloaf and sides. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made with a musty dish water, the “fried” chicken was raw and full of juice and bright red blood. and the most edible item, the wings, were 90% breading and skin. The plates had food residue stuck on them (even the ones just placed) and the serving utensils under the headlamps were too hot to touch limiting the options even more! Highly disappointing when you remember what ponderosa used to be. The servers for other tables and ours I could overhear complaining about management not doing this and that, yet here sat half a table of plates stacked to the side that never got glanced at. Overall the quality was awful, the service was awful, the atmosphere wasn’t bad, but putting everything together made me feel like I spent $79 on the worst dining experience, except I didn’t intend too. I wanted to enjoy my dinner and enjoy a place that held so many memories from my life growing up. Too bad this place isn’t that anymore. It’s not even trying to front like a decent place. Just all around disappointing and overpriced for what few...

After working for this company for 6 months, I can honestly say : they do NOT care about their employees or their customers. There was no AC in that building and there were so many days when it was over 85°.. their employees had to work in those sweltering conditions, including the cooks. They continue to take the customers money day after day without telling them that they were coming to eat in an actual sauna...so they would be angry and stiff their servers. Next time you go in to eat- look up at the ceiling. Bet you never go back. This restaurant has absolutely ZERO integrity. Yes, I was fired for having an argument with a customer. I am 5'1 and the man who followed me into the store to continue belittling and screaming at me was at least 6'4. Not only did my manager condone what he did, but she punished me for sticking up for myself and my coworkers. Which is something that Ponderosa doesn't do. They only care about filling their pockets.....edited** I sure did get fired... But I also stood on business because not everybody is to be played with. If you go into a restaurant and you are rude to your server or any other server please expect some backlash. Because the time of being disrespectful and rude and people don't say anything about...
