Terry's Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Union City

I’ve been eating at this place almost every weekend for a long time, and I can confidently say it used to be MUCH better when it was under the previous management. The food is still amazing — truly great flavors and quality — but unfortunately, that’s the only good thing left about this place.

The customer service has taken a complete nosedive. The staff is slow, rude, and clearly doesn’t care about the customer experience. I’m not the only one who’s had issues; there are other 1 star reviews mentioning the rude staff.

I had a similar, if not worse, experience. I came in to eat on MOTHERS DAY, they falsely accused me of disputing a charge from over a month ago, which is bizarre in itself. First of all, what? Second, this isn’t retail — most food services don't even allow disputed charges. He said he had camera footage like if I was introuble or something...? I ended up paying whatever they claimed I “owed” just to avoid a scene, even though I hadn’t disputed anything in the first place and to avoid being accused of stealing.

This is not how you treat loyal customers. If you’re thinking about eating here — don’t. Unless you’re okay with great food served with a side of attitude, eye-rolls, and the risk of being randomly blamed for something...

I’ve been living in West new York, Union city for about 6 years and I’ve always known about Terry’s coffee shop, unfortunately I just never lived close enough by the restaurant to be able to order. I recently moved to North Bergen and was happy to finally be able to walk to Terry’s coffee shop and buy food. Now I have an inner fat girl, I LOVE FOOD and I enjoy spending money on GOOD food. My first purchase was a basic breakfast, pancakes with bacon, very delicious! My second time ordering was exciting because I was craving a burger and not many places on Bergenline make nice burgers. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger deluxe and honey...let me tell you something....when the pickle, and coleslaw taste good, you know the burger was going to follow and it sure met my expectations!! Slamminnnnn...fresh, fatty burger taste (big size) with those fries on the side!! Yes. I was very happy and will be going back for more lunches. Also they are open super early which I love because I’m an early bird, the prices are very reasonable, staff is amazing and the owner is very welcoming. Ok, so I don’t usually leave reviews, but I have just found a hidden gem here. I casually stumbled upon this place and I felt completely at home, the atmosphere here is like you belong in a community, it is very uncommon to feel this kinda vibe, but the staff is great, it feels as if they are your own community.

Now, for the food itself… what an amazing bagel. I mean, I love bagels, but the bagels here are just another level. The real winner, however, is the pancake. Never in my life have I tried a fluffier pancake than this. It really can’t be appreciated in the picture I took, because I devoured it lol.

Definitely, I will be coming back. Really love how all people come here and casually start conversations, and it really gives the impression that they all know each other. Never seen a community of people coming in and out casually speaking to each other in such a manner that feels very homely, very unique.
