Ventura — Restaurant in Union City

Well I look Latina but I am a gringa, so I did my best to order my food and the lady was patient with me as i practiced my SPANGLISH with her. My Dominican mother-in-law took me here once and it was delicious. She paid for everything so not sure what it all cost . I Decide to come back 6 months later because I was craving roasted pork and I recall their pork was really good . My memory served me correct because I was right, the pork is tasty! I was asking for the roasted pork (La pernil) but they didn’t have any this time. So I ask for the next best pork option. She recommended pork ribs . Wow! They were amazing . Just writing this review is making my mouth water. I went ahead made it a combo which included rice and beans for $10 . Fair price I guess, but she gave me a ton of rice and barely any beans. Next time I will ask for beans “only”, since I can make rice for less than a dollar at home . It just white rice, nothing special. I plan to use the left over rice for stir fry since I got so much. Don't know if it was the day or what I know food has gone up in supermarket but damn. Have ordered a few times before I give up on a place. But after this last time no way. Went to pick up an order of 3 Large sopa de mondogo and end up pay $65 for the order not including tip (which I'm a generous tipper cause one knows it's hard.). Was shocked and was like what is this golden soup? Definitely not worth it. Soup had literally only mondogo and tomato sauce noting else like traditional mondogo soup has usually pig feet and some veggies. Not worth it plus way to salty. The fried fish and tostones weren't good either. If you like salty food with little ingredients this place is for you. Me I don't recommend what so ever. Not even for a diet cheat day or a day I don't feel...
