I was redirected here by United Airlines after a flight cancellation. The hotel (as advertised on its website) claims to offer guests a business center as well as free WiFi. Unfortunately, this information is false. There is no internet on site (apparently due to a long, ongoing problem with technical services) and the business center is inaccessible for guests. Originally, a staff member assured me that the internet would be up and running in 30 to 60 minutes, which obviously was not the case.
With a 28-hour flight delay, I needed to work remotely, so both services were essential, which is why I accepted United's invitation to stay here. I shared my concerns with management, and was told that many websites have misleading and inaccurate information. They explained that the WiFi offered at the hotel is not their problem nor responsibility, and that absolutely no compensation of any kind would be offered--not even a voucher for the $15 breakfast that consisted of cold, runny eggs and chunks of dry hotdogs.
I understand that technical difficulties happen, but to downplay the issue, show no accountability, and not put forth any effort toward rectifying the situation is deeply troubling. To accommodate other guests, my friend and I did the hotel a favour by claiming, at the staff's request, one room (rather than the two to which we were entitled via United Airlines). Though we were offered a late check-out (after having to negotiate the initial $75 per hour fee), we received poor customer service in a rather unwelcoming environment.
When I tried to file a complaint with Wyndham's corporate office about the staff's demeanor, I was told that the hotel's personnel would need to provide my reservation number: a code that management refused to give me. In fact, one of the managers gave me their e-mail address for me to file a complaint--about them! Aside from a lovely Front Desk Agent named Kristine, the staff (inclusive of Raj and Heena) are rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and unhelpful.
If you are considering hotel options due to a flight cancellation, I suggest booking any other...
Read moreWe booked this hotel because we didn’t want to pay high taxes in New York, so when I did my research I see that is 5 minutes walk to a bus station that took us very close to Times Square in just 20 minutes if was not busy and with only 3.5$ one-way. The hotel is average for the price, they have free parking which is good if you came with the car. Check-in is easy, we have a prepaid so we just have to pay a deposit ( 200$ ) cash/credit card, we pay cash to get the money at checkout. They have a broken elevator so it was pretty busy sometimes. Carpet from the hallway was not clean and nobody vacuum the hallway. Room was big, was a king room with a hallway where is the sink and the shower and toilet are separated, coffee machine ( not working ) and something to put the jackets. After the hallway is the bedroom which was big with a tv, table, chairs everything you need. Bathroom was clean, but the rest of the room was bad, nobody vacuum the floor only dust and hair, was a lot of dust everywhere, the Ac unit make a lot of noise and was dusty so you can’t use it in the night. Thermostat was working very hard. Blanket from the bed too “skiny” so in the night was cold because besides the ac unit they don’t have any heating system. Towels looks very bad, like some rags, they were clean but very thin. They supposed to change the linen and towels at 3 days, they only changed the towels and bring us less and worse towels. Breakfast is not included, they say it’s a separately business, you have to pay 15$ per person, we have twice the breakfast there, once was ok with a mexican lady the other day was a bad, so you can eat in other places ( see the pictures for the food they have ). Let’s say breakfast was like 2 out of 5 stars. Overall if you want a place just to sleep, be safe and don’t pay a lot of taxes you can choose this place, close to New York, free parking. But I recommend to search in advance and find a better place for the same money. Be careful with the late checkout, you have to pay money (...
Read moreThis is my 2nd time staying at this location. I'm not sure if they got new management or not, but the experience was definitely different from my first. I have to say, I enjoyed my stay the first time rather than the second time.
Good things: -parking: you are able to find parking at the hotel, however if there is an event going on, parking becomes limited -location-easy to get to the city but also location had great food options within 30min of the hotel and even closer -has a gym! Great way to start your day -the meadow view: we were on the 5th floor and the view was AMAZING!
Improvemts that can/should be made; Communication overall:
I called the hotel and spoke to several people to ensure that my guest and I would be able to be in a connection style room or right next to each other. They let me know that they could make this happen for me, all I had to do was call the morning of my arrival and ask for this request. I called the morning of my reservation and was told that once I check in, they will be able to make those accommodations. When I checked in, they were not able to make those accommodations which was a bit frustrating but we were able to be on the same floor with one room in between us.
I had an issue with my room and I went down to speak to the front desk(730am) and was told the manager would be in at 10 and I could speak to them. When I cam down at 10, I was told the manager worked late last night and was not coming in. I had to ask one of the cleaning staff to fix the issue in my room and that did not happen until my guest and I were leaving at 12.
The hotel has a restaurant that just opened. Not sure what happened with the Chef, but he was not pleasant to be around and did not create an inviting space for folks to try the restaurant.
Elevator not working, maybe put up a sign next time for the guests
Smoking: wasn't allowed but outside of the hotel, we saw a lot of people smoking
Not sure if I'll be staying at this...
