To start I would like to say that if I could give it 0 stars, I would. For a Portuguese restaurant this is probably one of the worst I've been in NJ. I'm from Portugal and I'm very familiar with our culture and gastronomy. The only decent food at this place would be the ribs and chicken...any other menu plate is completely wrongly prepared. Carne de Porco Alentejana was made with an absurd amount of tomato souce, it gave my dad stomach pain the entire afternoon. My wife's meal was a Portuguese Steak with mushrooms, another big mistake...it was cooked with an excessive amount of black pepper that completely ruined the meal, also the mushrooms that they use were the cheap canned ones, tasted like pickles instead of mushrooms. Discussing. The ribs I ate were decent and so was my brothers half chicken. From the moment I got there with my family, the server, a young girl with a horrible attitude became very rude after realizing that it would be 6 people at a table where most tables seat 4 only. I would assume that 6 people equals more business which is a good thing...I was wrong. We were seated on a table very close to the counter where the owner was, we expressed ourselves multiple times about how bad the food was but nobody at any point came to our table to ask how was everything. The employees and owner realized that we were not happy with what was served to us and decided to ignore us, at the end, the server came back a left the bill on our table without as much as a simple: "Thank You". While trying to collect the dishes from our table afterwards, the server dropped a cup of juice all over my moms shirt...it was just the cherry on top of the cake. We left the restaurant and will not go back.
Pros: None
Cons: Bad Service Bad food Too Small Rude...
Read moreI ordered ribs and rice with vegetables. I came into the store to pick up. I told the cashier my name, they handed me the bag with my name and I proceeded with my day. When I got home it was the wrong order, it was chicken, french fries and rice with vegetables. I decided to eat it because I did not want to drive back and plus we got more than what we ordered. An hour later someone called from the place saying that my order was still there and that “I” took someone else's food. I told the guy that the cashier handed me the order with my name, so whoever bagged the food messed up. He laughed and asked what did we eat and when did we eat. I told him we had the chicken to which he laughed again and asked was it good. I told him to get it together & hang up. They were unprofessional, the laugh was unnecessary due to their mistake, whoever does the calling or picks up the phone to take the orders was rude was having an attitude. I get that we are in a pandemic but whoever handles the calls should not treat their paying customers in that manner especially if they were the ones to mess up the bagging of the order. Whoever food they mistakingly gave...
Read moreI recently visited this location and was extremely disappointed. The two chicken sandwiches I ordered had barely any chicken, the onions were cut too big, and the single large piece of lettuce was unevenly placed when cut on one side of the sandwich. The rice tasted like water with no flavor at all. The fries were okay, but nothing special.
The service was equally frustrating. I asked for more hot sauce, and the young lady gave me just one more, along with about 20 packets of ketchup. When I asked for more hot sauce, she rudely asked, “How much more? You got three already.” I said that I had two chicken sandwiches and needed more. Her attitude was unfriendly and unhelpful. It felt like they were being stingy with the hot sauce, which was very annoying.
I will never come back to this location. I usually go to the one on Burnet Ave, where they are generous and friendly. Their chicken sandwiches always taste amazing, have plenty of chicken, and the rice has much better flavor. Plus, they never hesitate to give extra hot sauce without asking “how many...
