I am so glad this spot finally opened; I've been waiting for a while. And, I can definitely write that this place is GREAT! I was in with my wife, for take-out of course. But, the place is a very good size spot and decorated nicely; nice tables, chairs, counters, set up, art work and flow. And good, friendly, service too.
But, what really matters is the food! And, that's the star of this place! We got an order of mixed tacos, tripe tacos, mole enchiladas, chorizo quesadillas, pork tamales and some sides (chips and quac, rice and beans) all of it was very good; the servings of tacos and enchilada are 4 each, the quesadilla 3 pieces.
The corn tortillas were very fresh, not too moist, not dry and didn't fall apart...and they were definitely put to the test as the tacos were generously filled with meat that was cooked, and tasted, just right! And, they were authentic too of course, with radish, lime, etc. included.
The mole enchiladas were awesome! The mole was really good, the right consistency, spiciness, etc. And again, with great tortillas and filled with very well prepared meat. You are able to taste, and appreciate, all of the flavors; the freshness of the tortilla, the meat and the sauce; it's not swimming in sauce, the right balance of all of the ingredients. And to reiterate, 4 to a serving!
The quesadilla were really, really good. They were simple but beyond my expectation! The tortilla were, again, very fresh. The meat really good, the meat to cheese ratio well balanced; the quesadilla were stuffed with meat and not as greasy as you'd expect with that much chorizo. I can't wait to order these again.
My wife and I were going to wait to try the tamales, but wanted to be fair and try them fresh. And I am glad that we did, the masa was excellent and unlike street tamale these were filled generously with tasty slow cooked pork; no work to eat them as they were soft but stayed together from start to finish. The only trouble is I wanted to eat more but was already stuffed from trying everything else.....and still had leftovers!
The sides were all good, the rice and beans done right, the chips fresh tasting, light, crispy and salted right. I didn't try the guac (not a fan of avocado) but my wife commented that it was good.
So, a GREAT new addition to Union, in a nice new building with plenty of parking (street and large parking lot). I wish them a lot of success and a lot of business, I will be definitely be giving them...
Read moreThis restaurant does not allow essential workers to use the bathroom in the establishment unless we order food i am a Amazon delivery driver I had a delivery in the complex next door to the restaurant the complex does not have a bathroom inside I went to use the restroom inside the restaurant on 2/28/22 and 3/1/22 and the manager had an employee approach me to tell me I couldn’t use the restroom it was for paying customer when technically it’s illegal to refuse a delivery driver access to the restroom when we work outside so we do not have a specific location to use the restroom. Tacos Mexican grill sell drinks so you are suppose to allow the delivery drivers access to use the restroom. They must not be aware of the law in the food and beverage industry. I am not the only person the mail carriers fedex ups etc we are not allowed to use the restroom there unless we purchase an item. Now I’ve purchased items from this restaurant before and they are overpriced. Also during the heightened of the pandemic who does Tacos Mexican Grill think delivered all of the items they needed essential workers we delivered packages to the restaurant as well and so does the mail carrier so I’m confused on why they do not want us using the public restroom they have. Lastly all the customers they have should stop spending money inside of this establishment. The Manager is rude and unprofessional why send an employee to...
Read moreI truly wish I could give this place 0 stars. I guess the 1 star is because they are technically there. The place does exist and has a location so 1 star for that, but the last three times I've ordered has been hell. Let me tell you. They screw my order almost every, single, time.
The last and final straw was today when I ordered TWO tamales. TWO! The simplest of orders. Cost was about 5 bucks and I gave them 2 bucks tip for being open during this crazy pandemic. The place was not packed at all and orders seemed low from what I saw on the counter. I asked the man at the counter, "Are you sure there's two tamales in my bag?"
He replied, "Yeah two."
I come back to eat and there is only one, but that isn't even infuriating. What is even more infuriating is that the tamale sucked so bad. For a Mexican restaurant, this is the worst tamale I've ever had. The chicken looked gross and part of the food was stuck to the husk which I was told by a friend that it clearly didn't look like a good tamale. I couldn't even finish it and I did not want to go back for the second one that was missing.
If you are happy eating hairy ostrich butt dingleberry food, go for it. Have fun with that. I gave them...
