This Stop and Shop location is clean, well-stocked, and has a spacious underground parking area. The only complaint I have regarding the store would be that it doesn't stock Perri brand sausages even though other Stop and Shops that I've been to did.
Normally this would warrant a 4 or 5 star rating, except one of the store employees was cartoonishly awful, yelling at three separate people (including myself) because of her personal failings within the short amount of time between my arrival in the checkout lane and leaving the store. The mere fact that this person was ever hired, let alone allowed continued employment, drops this down to a 2-star rating (not 1-star because the store is nice and you can use self-checkout to hopefully avoid this employee).
As another review has noted, all shoppers are requested to wait in aisle 6 only, no matter which checkout lanes are open. Respecting this, I waited at the front of aisle 6. Another shopper cuts in front and simply stands in line behind the person in front at the only open checkout lane (number 3). Seeing this, I decide to just go wait in line in that lane. A minute or so later, this employee begins to yell from a few lanes over that I should be waiting in aisle 6 (which at this point has a few other customers). I go over and respond that I was waiting in the lane itself because I had been waiting in aisle 6 but someone else cut in front. This employee then lies to my face and says that she was standing there the entire time and didn't see me in aisle 6, but after seeing that I wouldn't budge on the matter, gives it up.
That alone is already plenty bad, but in the very short amount of time between getting my groceries and leaving, I had the opportunity to witness this employee being awful to two entirely different people, which is what prompted this review. As I was checking out, I asked the man ringing me up (who was very polite) whether he could cash out our Coinstar receipt, and he responded that I should go to the customer service desk for that, which I did. In front of me was another man already waiting at the customer service desk, where no one was manning the front. We wait for a while as no one shows up until the clerk manning the lane finds a moment to walk over and knock on the door to the customer service desk a few times for us. The employee from earlier finally comes out and begins to berate the customer in front of me saying he should have yelled for her by name instead of knocking, which is of course absurd since he wouldn't know what her name is in the first place.
Finally, we get up to the front of the line with our Coinstar receipt. In this interaction we are not the victims of this employee, strangely enough. Instead, she begins yelling at the guy manning the register that he should've been the one to cash out our Coinstar receipt. Keep in mind that the guy in lane still has people he's checking out while this employee basically just sat in the back not even watching the front of the customer service desk until the door was knocked. She cashed out our Coinstar receipt in the end, but only after grumbling that the other guy ought to have done it.
Anyway, I begrudgingly have to be in the same species as this person, but that doesn't mean I have to be in the same physical...
Read moreIf i could give a zero i would. Stop & Shop is normally the only place I do my grocery shopping but I have recently decided this will be my last time. I had several occasions where the lunchmeat department charged me well over what I asked for. However, this is the least of my concern. I also spend my WIC checks at this store and every time I come I am cheated out of my milks because they never seem to have soy milk (which is 10+ a month). I spoke with the manager and she told me "the next time I come if they are out of soy milk she would substitute a different kind of milk because it isn't fair to me." She was accompanied by a tall bald black man who also agreed.(typically has on a dark blue sweater). The next month when I came she lied to my face and said she never told me that. So now every time I come I have to get everything else on my checks but my milks. The cashiers are rude which isn't a surprise because the manager is as well. (White lady with orangish hair, glasses, and always wear a pink sweater). Another situation was with a cashier who incised on trying to overcharge me. The mangos was on sell at the time for 99 cent a piece but he kept telling it was 3 for 5$. I literally had to get out of line , take a picture of it and show him. Then I seen it was something else he rung up that I didn't even have. He wouldn't listen to me when I asked him to scroll back to the item so I called over the manager. Instead of trying to figure out the problem they seemed as if they just wanted to be right. Other customers were getting frustrated because they were waiting in line for so long. I told them to rang everything up over again, while I had my calculator out. The manager had a smirk on her face as if what I was doing wouldn't matter. In the end I was right about the total. I didn't even get an apology. This last time was it for me when one of the cashiers went to throw my fresh raspberry in the bag and it fell on the floor. He picked it up and put it in the bag and got an attitude when I asked for a new one. I had it with this type of behavior and will not tolerate it. I will simply take my...
Read moreA little over priced, but not by much. Nice store, just don't come here when it's busy or it'll be a bit of a wait. Also, I generally like to use self checkout so as to avoid human interaction. It's time saving and I can handle the merchandise myself and bag it the way I like. I've worked in stores with these machines in the past which is also why I prefer to use them. To that end, I can never seem to have a positive experience at this store using the machines.
The Hispanic woman working the self checkout line literally hounds the customers instead of staying at her station. I understand the machines have a scale built in and I did not set it off by double bagging my merchandise—thr machine will take a few moments to calibrate itself before it even requests assistance. I know you have to help customers and all, but wait until you are asked. This woman literally snuck up behind me and startled me half to death saying "Dont double bag items. I will help you at the end. Blah blah blah" then scans her card into the administrator menu as if it went off and prompted for employee help, just to make it look as if she knew what she was talking about. It was kind of obnoxious. I am not a layman and it doesn't require rocket science to scan yourself out at checkout.
I think she is taking her job too seriously, and it slows down the self checkout when one is constantly telling customers what they're doing wrong. If someone needs help they'll ask. If a machine requires intervention a notification will alert the employee. I do not need my hand held. This is the second time I've come here and this woman has obnoxiously tried to make it seem as though she was doing more than she needed to. I'm pretty sure she felt my energy toward the end because, despite it may have being rude, I literally just had to walk away while she was talking. If she wants to engage with customers so much she should be on a regular register, otherwise stand on the sidelines and stop bugging people.
I'll be going to ShopRite from now on. I'd prefer to avoid RT 22 but between the prices and the obnoxious employees it can't be...
