Glendale has been my go to spot since moving to Union over 6 years ago; I have tried all of the other places in town, none of them compare to Glendale, not the overall quality or consistency.
I have dined in before, of course before COVID, and have really enjoyed the Chicken Parm; that's a staple choice for me, if your Chicken Parm isn't top notch you can't be a contender. I am happy that Glendale produces a top notch Chicken Parm all of the times I have had it.
But, the real draw for me is the pizza. And, I have two favorites; the Grandma Sicilian and the Glendale Special. They are both incredible pies, and I have had both MANY times over the past 6 years. They are so good that when I have friends coming over for a game, etc. the one thing that they look forward to, that draws them in is the promise of some Glendale pies.
The Grandma pie is the right thick/thinness, the sauce to cheese ratio is perfect, it's seasoned just right, the garlic not just compliments the pie but helps add to the entire experience. And, it is an experience for sure, that sauce is almost addictive. I can't order Glendale without ordering a Grandma, won't even think about it....no matter what else we are getting, I have to have a Grandma too!
The Glendale Special is a really top notch pie too. I prefer mine without mushroom, so I always order it that way. It's a heavier pie, but the freshness, light airiness of the dough, along with the mass of really good toppings and a sauce that I think might be only for the special, makes this one of the better pies I've ever had. Again, it's a staple and go to for me and another one that I can't pass up the chance of having.
I do order a sandwich from time to time as well, and they are always really good. The bread makes the sandwich, and they always use really good bread. The meats and cheeses are always really fresh, sliced and arranged right and the toppings always very fresh and always the right amount.
I am glad that Glendale has been my go to spot for the past 6 years, and plan for it to be my go to spot...
Read moreWe were actually out to try another spot but due to a crazy wait time, a quick local search led us here. I will say, in our haste we were only looking at pictures, not reading reviews.
Ordered the Grandma and some fries- because if I see em, must have em.
Fries were nothing special, so on to the pizza. Oh wait, if you see your soda come out in those pizza hut-esque cups and bubbles are visible- know its going to be a good meal!
Pizza came out hot and aromatic! The crust slices knew they were getting attacked first so I had to mindfully get a pic or two before starting. Those center crustless slices rejoiced- must have heard those are my desperate choice, nightcaps if you will. Def looked generous with the cheese and there was a little shine to the pie. Upon closer inspection it looked like they were generous with the pizza oil (pesto? basil?)
First bites- quality cheese lots of good chew and pull. Sauce and oil combo gave a great balance. Crust was good as it looked. Happy to "stumble" onto this spot but will ask for less oil next time.
Note: Never had leftovers that tasted even half as good as fresh until this pizza - Crust...
Read morePlace went down hill and the dude on the phone cant get orders right. They charged me for a slice i didn't get. Figured I'd call back phone was busy as it was Christmas eve. So I said bump it and I'll just remind them the next time i ordered. Asked the dude on the phone if he could deduct the cost of the item I didn't recieve last time I ordered he said he could see what the manager would do. My order arrived at my house they charged me full price again and didn't deduct for the slice I never got the first time. Was pissed went there a week later and asked if they could discount the cost of that slice from my order i was gonna place, dude didnt even wanna try. Who the phuck would make up a story about not receiving part of their order. I just want what I paid for they got and extra 3.45 outta my pocket for a chicken bacon ranch slice they didn't even freaking have! So im pretty through with their basic pizza. I will be taking my business to fore Di italia.... I'm keeping it 100 back in the day when the other guy ran it the pizza tasted phenomenal. These joe schmoos have it now and it taste just as bland as ever...
