Magic Fountain Union Creamery Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Union

I’ve been going to this place since I was a child, and I’ve always loved coming in. However, I was disappointed to see they’ve now joined the bandwagon of passing labor costs and credit card fees onto their customers.

I don’t mind tipping—I’ve worked as a server and bartender, so I understand the importance of it. If you make me a sandwich, I’ll gladly tip you. But this type of mandatory tipping feels more like a way for owners to avoid paying fair wages, ultimately letting the rich get richer.

And now, on top of that, there’s a $1 fee for credit card transactions? In this economy? That’s excessive. Most places charge a small percentage if they pass on fees—not a flat rate.

I wrote to them suggesting they should clearly post the credit card fee, and they replied that the sign is by the first register. I didn’t see it. I suggested they display it outside or at least on their website, where people can see it before they decide to go in.

I just moved to union and I wanted to support my local neighborhood businesses. We found this ice cream place went here about twice and it was good we wanted to make it a normal weekend thing, but today me and my family came here ordering our ice cream it was 7 of us we had a big order, as we were ordering a group a white people came in and the person who was taking our order I guess her name was “ KAREN “ said “ we had to move to the other line “ and we told her “ we didn’t finish ordering” her reply was “ that’s fine but you have to STILL move out the way so I can take other people’s order“ After she was done taking the people who walk in AFTER US order and giving them there ice cream then she came back to me and my family. We thank her for the ice cream, she just give it to us and walk away. This is the last time me and my family would ever come here. You should teach your employees everyone money is the same color even though we wasn’t the same color as the other customers.

First off, there is parking!!!! You do not have to go from street to street looking for parking. It’s a very classy establishment. There are many seating options indoors and outdoors. They have many many MANY ice cream options. For example, they have ice cream floats, donut sundaes, an excessive amount of toppings and ice cream flavors. The vibe is very comforting, they have many wall decorations about ice cream. Now let’s talk about the ice cream quality. I myself ordered a strawberry waffle cup topped with more strawberries and whipped cream. 🍓 It was a perfect amount of sweetness, yet very creamy and very tasty.
