Lila's Fritay & Pie — Restaurant in Union

Honest review/ constructive criticism because I truly want to see my people winning . First of all the concept of Haitian Pizza is genius ! The lady at the front was kind and greeted us as we walked in . The pizza was made fresh. My reasoning behind the three stars was cross contamination. The women making our pizza and others (she has locs ) of course made the pies with no gloves- not the issue. The issue is when you go to pick up the phone and not wash your hand to continue making the pie is my concern . Then stopping again to fix your hair with your hands and continuing the pizza is a an issue. At one point I had to just stop looking. As we waited for our pie another gentleman came in to work . The woman took off her hair net - shook her locs over the counter where the flour was to make the pizza and walked away. If we can just nip this issue, a five star will definitely...

You know the feeling of missing home, family and a good meal? I’m a freshman at Kean and missing home like crazy.. the other day I needed lunch and I looked up spots around me. Lila’s came up. And let’s just say it was exactly what I needed to get me through another week at school. As you walk into Lila’s you are immediately greeted by employees with a smile and warm welcoming energy. I’m not sure but I definitely got the feeling that it’s a family business. I missed home a lot this week and even though it was my first time there I guess I just needed a friendly person to talk to and a good meal to make me feel better. I visited Lila’s Fritay & Pie recently — they’ve only been open for about a month, and it’s already clear they’re doing things right. The place was very clean, from the dining area to the kitchen view, which made me feel comfortable bringing my family. The staff greeted us warmly, helped us understand the menu, and were genuinely friendly and attentive throughout the meal.

We ordered a pie (and some sides) and everything came out fresh, nicely presented, and tasted delicious. It’s always impressive when a new spot opens and hits the ground running with excellent service and quality food.
