We just moved to the area and were looking for a decent Chinese Take Out, and Google'd up this place.
Ordering over the phone proved to be a small challenge. If the lady taking our order would have not interrupted so much, she may have taken the order correctly.
We ordered; (1) Chef's Special S5 General Tso's with rice $8.95, and (1) Combination Plate C5 Bourbon Chicken, rice and egg roll $7.50.
I knew I was in trouble when I went to pick up the food and the young lady at the cashiers counter could not control the customers. One guy was ordering and after he was finished his son was blocking the aisle while she watched. As I was waiting to get around this kid, she helped another kid pay for his dine in meal. At this point I was ready to walk out. I waited. I was then helped, buy a guy from the kitchen, who rang me up for $18.94. Which was more than it should have been.
If the lady taken the order had given me a total or reviewed my order I could have had a chance to catch her mistake.
We received (1) S1 and one S1 for and NO EGG ROLL. That is all I wanted. I checked the order and saw that it was missing and the kitchen guy was like too bad you didn't order it. I informed him that I would just go elsewhere.
After getting home and tasting the food I would have recommended going anywhere else.
The Generals Chicken Sauce was Red Hot sauce and BBQ sauce mixed and watered down. There where no chili's and a couple of sad tops of broccoli to go along with the all dark meat chicken.
The fried rice was dry and tasteless, the sparse frozen carrots and peas where not at all helpful.
I would recommend this restaurant to those who think the food at Buffalo Wild Wings or Hooters is high cuisine.
Needless to say we are still desperate to find a good Chinese take out place in the...
Read moreRecently moved to Union and wanted to try the closest Chinese restaurant. We support small businesses, tip very well even on pick up and do our due diligence when we can but this I'm hoping is a one off.
We were able to find everything we usually get from a good Chinese restaurant which was a good start.
Egg rolls, boiled dumplings, crab rangoon, beef lo mein, and garlic chicken combo with fried rice.
The best and, I genuinely hate to say it, only good thing we got was the egg rolls.
The boiled dumplings were hard to down. The surrounding noodle was too thick and dry and the filling was not appetizing.
The crab rangoon which is a must where ever I go was absolutely awful. Never had a bad crab rangoon, including the frozen kind from Sam's Club but this was a first.
The beef lo mein tasted like it was loaded with salt (maybe MSG?) It wasn't nearly as bad as the other items but wouldn't call it good.
The fried rice I couldn't get past the first bite and my wife was able to stomach 2.
The garlic chicken didn't have much flavor to speak of.
I hope people try this for themselves and I hope we just got here at a bad night. I like to give the benefit of the doubt but we had to go back out for dinner because we couldn't finish this. Sorry owners and loyal customers, this just...
Read moreI have to update my previous review because tonight we ordered and did pick up and both of our orders taste like burnt on food that permeated the air and my rice noodles are so sticky I could throw them up against the wall and they would stick. I was told that the person that was in there tonight acted like she didn't even want to be there but that's no reason to make your customers food taste like burnt.
Has the review below was my previous review obviously the ownership or the management or something has changed there because the food is horrible now tonight this is the first time it's ever been this bad.
Former review:What a great way to operate your business. Tonight we ordered through door dash and Shanghai garden missed putting the rice in our order. We called the store and we live just around the corner so they were more than happy to bring us...
