We just can't get good bagels or bread in Charleston, SC. I'm originally from NJ but moved in late 1993. Luckily, I have a brother and his family who live there so on our recent visit I took advantage of the location and went to this bagel shop 3 times and on the way home I grabbed a dozen so that we could savor the bagels upon our return home. My brother suggested this place as he and his family live just a few blocks away as of last year. They have many spreads and LOX--my favorite! They make breakfast sandwiches that look amazing although I stuck to my tried and true, toasted sesame bagel with lox and cream cheese. There are also lunch sandwiches and had we not been running around NYC and NJ we probably would have had a sandwich. There is coffee and plenty of tea options...help yourself. Need an ATM? They have that too. I saw a lot of regulars coming in the morning for their breakfast on-the-go and the owners were super friendly and I could tell they knew them in this small town. The owners are on top of things and customer service is superb! When we go back for a visit, I'll be going back for sure! Thanks for the bagels, friendliness and...
Read moreLeaving little to no stars because I am so tired of the owners wife and her funky attitude! In less than 2 weeks I have had to deal with her messing up my order. Today was it for me. She gave me 2 slices of toast. I asked her twice to put butter and jelly on them and she had the nerve to give me the 2 ends of the bread and to make it worse she burned them so she flipped them so I wouldn't see that they were the ends and that she had burned them! The husband (owner ) is very nice and he is professional. She clearly doesn't want to work and although her English is not too great she makes it difficult because she barely opens her mouth to speak. Her customer service skills are in the garbage. So many years I've gone to them for my breakfast food and salads but I'm done. I also asked her for a plain bagel toasted with butter and jelly...I got a bagel with an ounce of butter and no jelly! If she was the owner that establishment would crumble! The owner and Mario are very friendly but the other 2 seem to not want to be there. Bad...
Read moreWill not return. I placed an order for the Union wrap minus the whole wheat wrap and with feta. It says online on the site for Union Hot Bagel that the Union Wrap is $6.50 so how did my order come to $10?! I only had the wrap, no drinks, sides, snacks, nothing. When I got back to work I was pretty surprised by the cost for the simple order. After work, I called up and asked about it and was toldthe prices on the site and board aren't updated and that the Union wrap is actually $8.50.
Note: at the time of this review, the site still reflects the prices to be $6.50 for the Union Wrap.
When I called back about paying $10, I was told it's because the cook decided to add an extra egg white because the usual 3 eggs wouldn't hold the vegetables that are in the Union wrap. I didn't add any additional vegetables just what's already there from their own menu. Anyway, I chalked it up to an expensive warning to not shop here ever again. I'll be sure to tell a friend too. Also, forgot to add there were egg shells...
