Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Unity Township

I have always had a soft spot for "Long Johns". It was sad to watch so many locations close down in the mid 2000's. As far as fast food goes, I always thought LJS stood alone at the top for what you were getting for the money.

For around $9 you get 2 crispy and tasty batter fried fish fillets, 1 side, 2 hush puppies, plenty of "crispies" and a medium drink. Obviously there are tons more seafood and chicken options available that are all equally of great value/quality, but I'm focusing on just how good this batter fried fish plate is for the money.

The basic Long John Silver batter fried fish filet is simply delicious. And it has been for as long as I can remember going back over 40 years. It's ALWAYS good. Better than 99% of the fried fish plates I've had at expensive restaurants costing triple or quadruple the price. It's always hot with crispy and flavorful batter on the outside and a tender, flaky, never fishy tasting piece of fish inside.

The secret is obviously the batter and the manor in which the fish is fresh dipped in the batter and flash fried to a golden crispy texture. And they put this same batter on their chicken and shrimp and other seasonal seafood they may have on offer. It's fricken delicious.

But alas, LJS is still a place you can't visit everyday. Maybe once a week or a month treat yourself if you're lucky enough to have one in your area. It's the grease folks... They use a lot of it and it's why this stuff is so tasty. This isn't healthy food but it is incredible quality fried food for what...

Omg this place was AMAZING!!! The lady that works there was SUCH A WONDERFUL.WOMAN. Short story ..out Easter Shopping for my Family needed dinber drive 11 miles to get there it was the closest one and yes i had to use their reztroim i asked at the window as i was paying...she said certainly come on in Ill have everything ready inside for you. I explained U was about 45 min to an hour away from home. She told me drive safe wished me a Happy Holiday. Listen you know when someone is being fake and you know when someone is genuinely caring for your well being!!! I wish I got her name BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET HER!! Ill definately be back there!!!!! Food is ALWAYS so good. Their Fish and shrimp..❤❤❤❤❤ and hushpuppies too...ok...

Food is greasy and it ALL tastes like fish, even the fries and hush puppy's!!! Store is dismal, with bad lighting and a cheesy, barely even noticeable decor. I know its considered FAST FOOD, but it needs an update. On a side note, the nasty lady at the condiment bar who hacked and blew her nose while perusing the choices of sauce bottles made me want to puke. Thankfully we got it TO GO!!! Tables and booth seats were sticky and covered in food and EVERYTHING is covered in a layer of grease in the dining room! Even the fountain drink machine looked nasty!! I don't think they EVER get wiped off. *if you want condiments, ask for them in single serving packs, pass on the condiment...
