Jack's Deli and Restaurant — Restaurant in University Heights

I will be calling Jack's deli tomorrow personally, but I want you to know when I walked in there this afternoon it was about 2:15. I had my receipt. it says it was $22. I specifically requested a lean lean grilled corned beef sandwich on wheat bread with swiss cheese and thousand Island dressing. first of all the cashier she was all over the place literally after I order my food and she put the order in and I said make sure you tell them I needed to be lean. she said to me it would be do you know they proceeded to make my sandwich and it was cold and uncooked and they cut it and put it in the box and handed it to me and I looked at them like they were crazy. there was a I'm black so I can say this. there were two black line Cooks. one was bald and one waxed. they were both balled but one was skinnier than the other I said to them I wanted this grilled so then of course they put it on the Panini grill machine when I got home with that $20 sandwich it cost me $17.70 it was so much fat on that corned beef. I'm just disgusted with Jack's deli. people work hard for their money and you should be able to get what you ask for and pay for & receive what you ordered. Then on top of that there were like #4 customers that came in behind me and the cashier wasn't even at the station and people were just waiting and waiting and waiting. ever since the pandemic Jacks deli has went down from a#10 to a zero in my book. and one more thing, I only tried to call the restaurant three times to put my order in over the phone but they don't answer the phone. it was total chaos and dysfunction because they close at 3:00 and they were more concerned with trying to break the line down and get out of there at 3:00. then waiting on their customers and I've read the other reviews. a lot of people are over Jack's deli. you guys have really...

What used to be a great place to enjoy a good deli style meal, has become a below average delicatessen We came around 5 pm on a Sunday and must of have been between services. The server we had might of have been the dishwasher, she showed no interest, urgency or even pretending she wanted to be there. I felt I was on one of those hidden cameera tv shows like, what would you do Like... What would you do if the server took 10 minutes to retrieve 3 soft drinks, then deliver them with one dirty glove on and one glove off, all the while handling them around the drinking end. What would you do if she says she will be right back to take your order, then shows back up 10 minutes later, keep in mind, there only a few tables in the dining room at this point. What would you do when she delivers your food with her fingers half stuck in your food when she hands it to you then wipes her hands on her dirty apron What would you do if she spends more time talking more to another customer who's eating subway from a bag in a booth across from you, whom later takes a nap What would you do if when you have to go to the restroom and half the staff are sitting in booths by the bathrooms all on their phones and with their legs half way out across the aisle. What would you do if the resturant is so dirty, including, floors, doors and bathrooms as if no one has cleaned or cared in a long time What would you do if all this below average, horrible service restaurant cost way more then places where they are cleaner and offer better service Well you would probably do what I will...

We look forward to getting Jacks every time we are in the area. Today, however, we went out of our way to make our annual stop at Jacks for take out sandwiches. We were disappointed from the first moment we called, when we were immediately put on hold for 5 minutes before we decided to just hang up and call back a little while later. The second time we called the phone was passed around before we were actually able to place the order, which was 2 New Yorkers with thousand island on the side and a Reuben.

When we went to pick it up, it was ready and I attempted to add an extra pickle to the order because I love them so much, but was told the meals came with a pickle so ended up not purchasing more. When we got home we were disappointed again to find no pickles and no sides AT ALL. Looking at the receipt, we saw it clearly said “no sides” but were confused because we never said that when ordering and every other time we have ordered take out it always came with potato salad and pickles. I’m particularly confused because I tried buying more pickles and was basically told by the staff not to? To top it off, my Rueben sandwich also came with no thousand island dressing or cheese…

If we had not been long time customers familiar with their quality and service in years passed, I would have probably let it go and know to never order from there again, but this is particularly frustrating because they have always been our favorite but this will be our last time...
