Ok hear me out. I like pickles on my sandwiches, and I don’t mean the three that Wawa corporate dictates should go on a spicy chicken sandwich.
I went in a few nights ago to get a sandwich because my wife wasn’t feeling well and I didn’t want to cook and fill the apartment with smells of hot meat.
I put in my standard Wawa order, which is a spicy chicken sandwich with added bacon and a side of meatballs. I was ticket number 810 (I think) and I asked the dude behind the counter to put extra pickles on my sandwich (they really need an extra pickles button)
The one dude had clearly just been in a fight, black eye, bruises and scrapes all over his face. The other guy just had that face. You know the one. That one wiseass kid in school that always said the funniest thing, but drove the teacher crazy.
Well the wiseass, true to form, shoots back an immediate “no”. But he had that face, so I figured he was kidding. So I just say “please?” In my most plaintive voice.
“No!” Comes the immediate reply. I lol and really whine and say “pretty please??!!”
“Ok, sure.” And we all laugh. Well not the dude with a shiner. It looked like it would hurt too much to laugh, but he was smiling as best as he could.
Interaction over, I walked over to get what turned out to be a pretty gnarly grape soda and find my wife’s face, the half soft pretzel, to settle her stomach. I couldn’t find it any so went to the cashier (Hanesha or something close to that) and she turned the store upside down and found the last one.
My food was done so I grabbed it and went to my car. I was wicked hungry and my wife was nauseous so I ate in the Honda.
They gave me a soufflé cup full of pickles, which was great, but when I opened the sandwich …. It was majestic. There were so many pickles. Exactly what I asked for. I think what I had said was “ Hit the pickle button until it breaks.”
They did just that. I’m getting weepy thinking about it. Too bad I’m just visiting PA, because I want these people in my life.

Read moreI will start by saying that; I actually love this wawa. I've lived in this area almost 10 years now, and have been visiting this location multiple times a week. The staff was always nice and polite, the same for the customers, and they love opening and/or holding the doors for each other. I'm an Uber driver, and found this to be a great place and a safe place to stop for gas and/or late night snacks, even during the wee hours in the morning. There had always been good vibes, until today however. Today I encountered a staff/crew member who was an African American woman like myself, but unlike myself, she was rude, disrespectful, mean, condescending, agigitated and beside herself because I attempted to self check out with cash. I usually check out with my bank card, but I momentarily forgot about my card being deactivated due to an unauthorized purchase I reported to my bank just yesterday. She gave me the side eye then rolled her eyes, and huffed and puffed. When she approached me regarding the situation she was contemptuous, disdainful, insulting, scornful and more. I can't help to wonder what would have happened had I accidentally bumped into her or accidentially stepped on her foot. I would have been laid out on the floor. She was wearing a blue T-shirt, was on the heavy side, and it appeared that she had been in a fire at some point in her life. If you see her run the other way. I don't understand how business owners alow people that are on a short fuss and trigger so easily to interact with...
Read moreMoved away from the area and was back today. So excited to bring some sandwiches home. After my two hour drive home we eagerly anticipated digging into our club sandwich and chicken cheesesteak. Uh oh what a huge let down. Had to double check the order tag attached to the sandwiches to make sure it wasn’t my mistake. Nope, it wasn’t. What did I get? A chicken salad hoagie and a club sandwich without lettuce or tomato. How do you screw that up? Oh right now I remember. The whole time I sat waiting you were so engrossed with your conversations behind the counter you probably weren’t even paying attention to the orders. They say Wawa is expanding to our area soon. If this is what you’re bringing… don’t bother. I’ll stick to the competition who can at least read my order.
UPDATE - 5/22/24 Although I have not seen a response from the store itself I did send feedback through the corporate website site and they did respond within 48 hours with an apology, a promise to forward my concerns to the store management and encourage coaching, and offered and sent me a digital gift card so although I was still disappointed with the experience I am appreciative of the companies response and what seems to be an overall concern for it’s customers satisfaction. I will raise my review an additional...
