Manhattan Bagel — Restaurant in Upper Moreland Township

OK - so in advance, I'm a bit ashamed of myself - that I, a NJ transplant that's lived in PA for 15 years - am about to fangirl so hard over bagels from a chain. But they earned it - so here we are!!

I ordered through Uber Eats - and I'm not sure who manages the uber eats ordering platform, but it's terrible!! When you go to order a bagel, it requires you to select thirteen UNIQUE flavors in order to process the purchase. Which is terrible for someone like me who has a very specific order - 2 everything (to infuse everything flavor onto the other bagels), then the rest an even split of poppy / plain. I'm here for the bagel, I don't need all those flavors mucking it up! :-)

So prior to placing, I called and said "Hey, I'm about to order, but what I actually want is ...." and the woman on the phone said great, no worries, I got it.

Then I ordered, and added the note of what bagels I actually wanted and even added "I love the dark and bubbly ones, if you have them".

No kidding, my bagels arrived about 10 minutes after ordering - and when I opened they were visual perfection, and I could feel residual warmth on my face - definitely one batch had come straight from the oven, infusing all the bagels with the exact amount of warmth to make my spread (butter, personally) absolute perfection!!

I don't say this with a lot of pride - but I ate two. In a row.

I called back after and let them know how hard they nailed it. Now this is TERRIBLE, but I did get the name of the woman who prepared my order (and I think took that first call) - but then I got a work call and I lost it!! I wanted to name her in this review, the owner needs to acknowledge her. But to identify her, I called around 11, and then again at 12:30 ish. Today is July 25, a Tuesday. And the name sounded like "Hannah" or "Angie" maybe?

But seriously - I've tried all the bagel places that get hardcore recommendations here - and who knew the crown goes to Manhattan Bagel??

No lie - I was commuting to NYC a few days a week back in 2019 - these were better than or equal to the majority of bagels I was getting there.

I'm taking the time to write this because pizza and bagels are so important to some of us, and everyone's standards are different. So if what I described sounds delicious to you, save the time and effort and go here!!

And yes, I've eaten there before and it's not always absolute perfection. But today it was, and that's enough to warrant 5 stars for me!! The potential for a perfect bagel experience outweighs the occasional mediocre bagel...

Several things went wrong here. First, we ordered online around 10:20, it said it would be ready at 10:34. We were at fault in getting there after 11, but turned out they never even made our order in that time and made it when we got there. We wanted two onion bagels, but they said they only had one so we got one and wanted to swap the other for a garlic bagel. We told them twice to their face that that was what we wanted, while they proceeded to ignore us then give us a plain bagel instead. We also ordered fruit, which they had according to their menu on their website and then told they never carry fruit. Because we ordered online we had to swap for something else, which I would’ve just rather have gotten a refund/discount because no one wanted that. Then we wanted our bagels toasted obviously and they were not toasted and cream cheese put on them. So we wasted more time coming home, scrapping off cream cheese and toasting the bagel. Went the weekend of January 27th and there was a living, breathing MOUSE RUNNING AROUND IN THE BAGEL CASE!!! Had gone here a few times and typically liked the food. Came in on a Saturday morning and right before it was my turn to order a I saw a mouse inside the bagel case staring me in the face. I truly wish I was lying and never like to write poor reviews, but both of my friends also saw it after I pointed it out. We left right away and called the location to let them know. Have rarely seen a mouse in restaurants, but never ever seen one running around inside the food! Was super turned off and will never go back to this location.
