Very friendly staff and excellent food!

As an appetizer we sampled the kettle chips. These are quite excellent. They are served in a basket with dips available. The chips are thick and substantial with a very satisfying crunch. They are lightly salted, which I appreciated. I find a little salt can go quite long way. There is, of course, salt and pepper at the table so one may season to their own taste.

The pizza is a big menu item, but I had the BBQ sampler. It is a large platter piled with meat and two slices of bread. Generous portions and high quality meat cooked expertly made for a very satisfying dinner.

The pork was finely shredded and pleasantly on the dry side in expectation of sauce. The thin sliced beef was similarly moist but not at all what I would call "juicy" so that it would not thin the sauce to come.

The sauce, the sampler comes with two condiment cups, is made in house. I tried both thick and thin in medium heat. I am quite glad I was reserved in my selection as their medium was quite hot to me. I appreciate some heat in my meal but I do have my limits.

The thin should pair quite well with the shredded pork as it could easily flow through the helping and flavor every last bite. Thick sauce is my preference in most barbecue and it proved true here as well, but I would not pass up an opportunity to sample either again. For the Polish, the thick sauce is really the only way as the stickier consistency allowed for more sauce per bite.

The sampler also includes rib tips which, while flavorful, I find so skimpy on meat as to not be worth much bother. I feel similarly towards hot wings. You must consume a great heap of them to get anything out of it.

Dinner for two came out to around $36 for a great meal in a nice little establishment that continues to impress with the high quality of their fare.

Highly...

I've frequented Po Boys for some time now because they have really great bbq for really great prices. Last week I left the restaurant with a takeout order, and didn't realize until I got home that my order was missing the bbq sauce. I was annoyed but didn't think too much about it. Today when I went to pickup another order, the gentleman (who I believe may be the manager) pointed out to me that they forgot my bbq sauce last week! On top of that, he was sincerely apologetic about it and said he felt horrible after I left when he saw they had forgotten the bbq sauce. That speaks volumes to the character of the Po' Boys staff that they would even care to notice AND care to point it out to me and apologize for it. He added that he would make it up, and sure enough he threw in a piece of cherry pie with today's order and a double portion container of the bbq as well. Great food, great staff, great prices. Places like this should be frequented. I know I'll continue to be back. You should check it out. You'll be glad that you did....

The portions were great. The meat & sides I ordered were very good. I got the $13.00 Sampler. On the side I ordered MacNCheese, BBQ Beans, Potato Salad, and 6p Smoked Wings. The only thing I was sorta disappointed about was the $9- 6p that I purchase. I think it was very pricey for what you recieved. Possibly through a side in there & I could justify the price. As for the sauces, I'm not a fan but PLEASE don't let that stop you because I ate most of it without anything on them & it was SUPER DELICIOUS. This was my first time but definitely NOT my last. Too, I purchased a piece of double chocolate pie. I haven't eaten it yet but I'm sure it is as delicious as it looks. I can see why people are raving about it. One word of advice- Come hungry because the portions are...

We heard the BBQ and pie was good, but we didn't expect to find such fantastical friendly and helpful service, too — so we went back again the same week to try the pizza. Same fantastical friendly and helpful service! Same awesome display of tasty pies! (With housemade whipped cream and a chocolate that is deeply committed to being chocolatey.) The dining area is also super easy to navigate with a wheelchair. My only concern was the amount of salt on the fries, so if you're sodium sensitive, you may ask them to go easy on that. Also note that the original style, vinegar-based BBQ is the real deal — very vinegar forward.

I came in during a slow time in the afternoon. I talked to who I assume is the owner or manager, he was super nice and telling me about different specials they have on various days, we talked a little bit about the local craft beer scene. I told him it was my first time there and I ordered the barbecue sampler to go. The last thing he said was "We'll be seeing you soon." He's not wrong, it was some of the best barbecue I've had in Champaign and will definitely be back. Of all things it was the sausage that stood out the most. Amazing flavor. I will be back!
