On May 12th I ordered a cake for my daughters 10th Birthday. We discussed it all over facebook through messaging and even had photos exchanged of what photo and the color the trim was supposes to be and so on. Even a day before we had to pick up the cake I replied asking that wording be put on the cake because that was never brought up and I wanted to be sure it could be done. All was told to me like it could all be but the Day of getting her cake on the 29th about 17 days later after it had been ordered and well it was a Zelda cake but not at all the color or photo asked for.. The photo wasn't centered and also torn on one side like this all had been rushed at last minute. Never have we had any issues with this company and they've done many cakes for us the last 5 years.. We didn't get to look at the cake until we had already made it to the party and it started pouring down rain outside.. It was the day of her birthday so we really didn't have time to get it redone. My mother contacted them for me to see what could be done and she offered to scrape off all the icing of the cake after making the comment that there was no other red velvet cakes lying around. Which at this point we already informed them that we didn't have the time to have it fixed on my daughters birthday. So we then got offered a 20% discount on our next cake order... Almost a 30.00 cake? And 20% off the next cake? Who is to say we would even want to return for another rushed job knowing the next birthday may end up with the same issue? Highly upset about the situation and would have been happier with the refund and would have been more than willing to go back in the future. I understand times have been rough and they may have been short staffed but with more the 2 weeks notice for a cake, info online and photos sent to the company which they said would be fine? How does that get messed up? Even after I sent a reply a day before picking it up and still recieved a message in return saying it'd be no problem.. I don't want to be that Karen everyone likes to call others for a complaint but in this case we were very disappointed with the turn out and lousy 20% discount we will never use because I refuse to continue business with this company after many years of money spent there with no issues. Really sucks because this place used to be awesome! Even sent them another message about the situation and got completely ignored all because they refuse to send a refund for their mistake! Hope nobody else goes...
Read moreOn our Ohio TuesDayTrips outing in Van Wert, we stopped at Truly D'vine Bread Co. The girls hovered over the caramel corn for a couple minutes as I perused the pastries. There were donuts including some jumbo ones, cookies, long johns and cupcakes in the cases. However, on the top of the case was a chocolate cake with an “Eat Me” sign on it. (Oh, alright, it said “Try a sample” – same difference.) Anyway, I grabbed a piece as directed and there was a wonderful flavor explosion in my mouth. This was definitely an “OMG delicious” cake. Oh Ladies, get over here!
Along with coffee, the ladies grabbed a piece of the OMG cake and a cookie and I tried the pistachio long john. They loved cookie and long john was delicious, but not much in the way of pistachio flavor. The cake alone would be worth the 220-mile round trip...
Read moreStopped in while on a road trip. On the positive side, the staff is extremely friendly and we loved the quaintness of the place. There's even seating outside. Coffee was self-serve, fresh and hot and there were lots of baked goods to select from.
But we went for breakfast, and it was NOT very good.
The eggs were okay, but the croissant was dry . . . and croissants should be anything but dry (maybe due to toasting?). I got a danish and it was the same way.
The bacon was the thing that really tanked their food. It had a taste of rancid oil. Either it was old, or there was old oil on the cooking surface.
I think this place has so much to offer that it could easily maintain 5-star reviews if they worked on...
