TL;DR It SLAPS , absolutely go get some now
The Owners of “ Amaros Table” and “Gustavs” have done it again. They don't miss! These restaurants have really elevated the Vancouver food scene. They have brought upscale , fine dinning to vancouver at an accessible price. After having breakfast at Cecilia, I'm convinced every other place in town is doing it wrong or Cecilia has discovered some kind of magic that just can't be replicated. Either way, they've got something great.
The staff : 10/10 - Very kind , caring and attentive.
Atmosphere:10/10 very chill
The Chefs/Food : 20/10 - Exquisite, elevated comfort food
-Chicken and Waffles- I'll say I had high expectations for the chicken. As anyone who has been to Amaro's will tell you they do fried chicken perfectly, and they brought that same energy into this dish but with that amazing breakfast twist we all love! The waffle was great much better than most restaurants. It was soft inside, while actually achieving that signature crunchy outside that a waffle should have. And they go the extra mile and make the maple syrup in house and it makes a difference! The chicken was that beautiful crunchy outside but impossibly juicy inside that we have come to expect from these folks, a cut above the rest.
-The House Benedict- For me the top highlight from this dish, which had many, was the hollandaise . It was perfectly creamy , and delightfully seasoned with the nice lemon zest you'd expect from a hollandaise. My Wife's highlight was the biscuit which was a cheddar jalapeno biscuit that was soft and fluffy and made it so we couldn't wait to go back and see how they use those for biscuits and gravy. I will also add that the eggs were poached to perfection which to me is important in the dish. The homefries that came on the side were so delightful and such a nice compliment for the dish, I especially loved the red onion cooked with the potatoes and then the fresh green onions added as a garnish. I asked for some hot sauce for the homefries and once again going a step above their competitors , you guessed it, they make that IN HOUSE as well and it's fantastic. a must try for any hot sauce enjoyer. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this breakfast experience much more than any other...
Read moreI was finally able to try out the newest brainchild of my friend Geno. It is every bit the early riser star that Amaro's Table is for lunch, dinner, and late night deliciousness. His chefs have made this a very welcome addition to the ever increasing Clark Co WA bedroom community separation boom. The enigma that comes with being a neighbor to the downward spiraling Portland, OR scene, is slowly being scaled back. There truly is not much need to go across the river, at least for a top-tier dining experience. Unfortunately, I was enamored with the upbeat but relaxing atmosphere and chatty dining partners. The staff were attentive but, as expected, respectful to the fact we were there to enjoy our brunch experience. The one specic signature part of customer service I enjoyed, similar to that of both Amaro's Table locations: the staff didn't ask how the food was. I despise when I get asked that, especially when I just received it and, at best, have eaten 1-2 bites. The staff should have zero need to ask as with any restaurant but especially high-quality establishments, the staff should know that the chefs are the best and the food should be very well prepared. From the fresh fruit welcome plate to the fresh, hot donut balls complete with a warm mixed berry compote to the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and alcohol based beverages, the table was set, so to speak, for my high expectations to be met and likely to be exceeded. The entrees of : A fresh roasted corned beef Reuben sans the typical excessive amount of salt; an amazingly moist, tender & flavorfull chicken breast atop a perfectly made Belgian waffle with honey butter & syrup; a beet juice marinated steelhead lox covered eggs benedict; tres flavorful tres Leche French toast with Chantilly cream and a surprisingly ➕️ ➕️ biscuits & gravy dish. I expected it would be better than most, but it was as good as I would make it. Geno, mad props to your crew from my phone query to the text notifications regarding our wait time and place to initial contact with the wait and service staff to the completion of our meal. You truly must try...
Read moreI would give 6 stars if I could!
TLDR: Food was out of this world, service was warm and inviting, 10/10, would give more stars if I could! I was on the go at the time and forgot to do review day of, but this restaurant left such an impact that we're making the same trip soon and we've already decided that we're going back. In honor of our second visit, I figured I would finally write the review! I will update after our second visit with any new pics/dishes we try. The entire time from beginning to end was a lovely experience.
We visited Cecilia's about 2 months ago right before a trip we were taking. The ambiance as we walked in was very nice, and even though we didn't have a reservation they were able to seat us pretty quickly (definitely recommend reservations!)
We hemmed and hawed over the menu because there were so many delicious things, but landed on ordering the Dutch Baby and Chicken Fried Steak.
After hearing that this was our first visit, the manager came over and surprised us with an order of their famous Abuelita's Doughnuts. This was definitely unexpected, and I'm sure it's not something they can do every time, but we were extremely touched (and also it was a great call because the donuts were fabulous). Food was out of this world. The chicken fried steak (sorry no pictures because once it arrived it went straight into my belly) had such an interesting flavor profile to it. I have ordered chicken fried steak in hundreds of restaurants as it's one of my go-to breakfast items when I'm out an about, and it definitely impressed me. Portions felt huge, so I was sad that we were not in a position to take leftovers with us, but it was so tasty that we ate a pretty good amount. My husband had the Dutch Baby, and while we've had it before at other places, we were so excited to see it as it's not a common item. It's an easy recipe to make but hard to nail perfectly, and they pulled it off! The lemon and powdered sugar was just right, and it had the perfect amount of softness to crispiness.
We are excited to be...
