Me and my girlfriend have been here a handful of times. Our experience has always been great. The bartenders and waitresses have been attentive and friendly but not to the point where they are overbearing or obnoxious. We come by on sundays, Mondayâs, or Wednesdayâs which have all been BUSY nights when we are here. Iâm talking every seat with a butt in it, and extra people playing pool or standing outside. We have still received great service each time, even when they are slammed!
This evening, which happened to be a very slow Saturday, maybe 10 to 12 tables at the most with people sitting down, we came to Charlieâs for a few drinks and a small bite to eat, expecting the same service we have received before. Jennifer was our waitress. We sat down at her table, she did come by within 5 minutes to ask what we were drinking as we were looking at the menu. We ordered beers, we did say that would be all for now. She brought us our beers in a reasonable time. We sat for a while, sipping our beers, deciding to order some food. She made eye contact with us multiple times but never came over to check on us. I think itâs rude and disrespectful to wave or shake my glass at a server, so I always wait for them to approach me when they have time. We had decided to order food, but had to go up to the bar (she never came back) to ask for an order of steak bites. (Delicious food by the way) Jennifer was the one who delivered our order. She did not ask if she could bring anything else, she plopped the bowl down in front of us and did not offer extra plates, though we were sharing. We did request two waters as she turned her back and walked away. She brought this to us promptly. My drink was empty at this point, and my girlfriends was close to gone. She did not offer us another or ask how we were doing. She seemed to want to run away as quickly as she could and didnât even offer enough time so we could ask for another beer. As we were finishing eating, she asked if there was anything else we would want. I told her another beer, and my girlfriend also ordered another. It took over 10 minutes to receive the second round. Between ordering our second round and receiving it, we saw her sitting on a bar stool, talking with customers at the counter. She was speaking with coworkers who were all standing around goofing off. She sat at other customers tables chatting, bringing their beers within a minute or two of them ordering. Both me and my girlfriend have worked in the food and beverage and hospitality/other customer service jobs, and we are both very forgiving and understanding of someone who is new or who may be having a bad night or if it is super busy in the establishement. None of this seemed to be the case.
We will be back as we do enjoy Charlieâs. We will avoid sitting in Jenniferâs section...
Read moreThe food and prices were great. I would love to talk with the owner because i honestly feel bad that he has such horrible people working for him. We had to ask for water/refills When we did she rolled her eyes at us and just took the cup, didnât say anything We had a 1 year old with us and she didnât even acknowledge her or offer us a high chair, i had to go grab one myself 4 we asked for the guacamole on the side so they just didnât bring it at all and when we said we still wanted it they argued for a little while instead of just bringing it 5 every time we said thank you she would just give a smirk 6 after all this we obviously werenât going to give her a tip because she didnât do ANYTHING without us telling her to so she followed us to the parking lot and told us next time we come back sheâs adding it to our bill automatically. So i went back in , Got stopped by four employees brawling, screaming at each other, one nice employee was trying to stop them, saying âplease guys just stop, this isnât the placeâ, putting his body in the middle of all the punches, while hey continue to act like children, one of them had to be in his 50s! Finally got to the girl and told her we didnât tip because everytime we asked her for something she gave us attitude even though we were all nothing but nice. And all she said was, i was very attentive. (With attitude) 1 thatâs your job as a waitress , thatâs what you get paid hourly to do. 2 i tried to explain why we felt the way we did and we just kept talking over me telling me i still have to tip. Well actually i donât, and wonât and wish i didnât even pay my tab at this point. I told her not to worry about adding it next time because none of us plan on coming back and she said âcool, goodâ I heard the owner also owns hooligans so we will just be going there. And i am truly sorry you have such horrible workers. I plan on owning businesses soon and canât imagine having people make my store look so ghetto. Much love to you and i hope you get the workers your bar deserves because it really could be an...
Read moreLast night it was very busy when we walked in. There was only 2 waitresses working the floor and they were overwhelmed with customers. So we waited patiently and one of them caught eye we were sitting waiting. She came over when she had a chance and said we are super busy sorry for the wait. I'm not your server but I can get some drinks started for you. We said great since we were waiting for other people to show up. Of course it died down a little bit and we told them both we could see they were busy so no rush we will order when your ready. She was so appreciative and thankful since she just had a customer just yell and disrespect her in front of the whole section because her drink didn't come out within a couple minutes. Our food was amazing and they both took really good care of us. So we took care of them when we cashed out!
It just goes to show that you never know what kind of a day or shift at work someone is having. Instead of being rude or disrespectful try being nice and see how much farther it will get you. I know the 2 of them will not forget how some random people came in and changed how their night ended. We will see you again soon for taco Tuesday đŽand wing Wednesday maybe even Sunday...
