The wife and I decided that neither wanted to cook, so we thought we would try one of the newer places in the area. We have a few places to choose from and while looking at this menu, it sounded interesting. They seem to have plenty of variety and the menu certainly didn’t feel boring… you know, like how some places offer the same thing made different ways… no, here, each item seemed a unique offering. We opted for takeout, so some of my experience is a result of that. Not all take out is close to in house experience. My wife and I liked the looks of the Carolina style pulled pork and the sticky funny bacon. Both seemed unique and we figured we would share. After placing the order at a quarter to nine, they said they were closing at nine, which contradicted to Google maps that said ten. Otherwise I wouldn’t have ordered that close to closing. They said it was fine and took the order. I found out later the kitchen closes but the bar is open another hour. The staff was very friendly, and accommodating. No issues there at all. In about fifteen minutes the food was ready and I went home about five minutes away. Sat the dishes down, and opened them up. The containers were sturdy but not impossible to open, and they didn’t leak. Our first comment was about the bacon. “$22 for that?” Only a few pieces of meat, and when you really looked, half of the pieces were nothing but fat… meaning zero meat! The meat we did have was either overcooked or sat too long, because it was hard and chewy. The sauce was good, which helped with the rice, which was without any flavor basically white rice without any seasoning. The vegetables were massive chunks of peppers a mushroom and a tomato. The ‘thing’ in the middle, I thought was a zucchini… it maybe was a half pickled in pepper something that I will avoid in the future. As we grabbed the pulled pork out, the bottom bun was drenched. It’s takeout so I’m guessing in-house in might not have been. The pulled pork had a good flavor but I expected more of the BBQ sauce. If it was there, it wasn’t much. The fries were soft and seemed undercooked yet they tasted burnt. Like maybe the fry oil needs replacing, and raise the fryer temp. There was zero seasoning on the fries, thankfully at home we could remedy that. Overall, we were more impressed with the menu than the food they served. I will admit it was end of the day, and it was take out. So weigh my comments with that knowledge. Could have been a bad night, or just ended up with the end of day scraps. Not sure if we will return. If we do… perhaps in house and earlier in the day. Hope this trip was an anomaly.

Came in yesterday with my mom and son for lunch. We were greeted by a very friendly server who promptly offered us a table and took our drink orders. Disappointed that a restaurant with "Cocktails" in the name had zero for a drink menu or even basic recommendations, but appreciated their full bar offerings. The food we had was cooked very well. My chicken sandwich was yummy as was my son's shrimp and grits. The chicken wings were a bit dry and bland however. We chose side sauces instead of tossing them all in one as our group wanted different flavors, but was surprised that there was zero seasoning on them. Even some salt and pepper would have added a nice touch. The staff was kind and generous to offer us a complimentary apple pastry dessert that they are experimenting with and if they don't add it to the menu, the rest of y'all will be missing out. It was soooo soooo good! Overall, I was happy with my experience so I will be back. Going to cross my fingers by then that a cool drink menu will be developed. Goob's would be a great date night/friends night location as they have ample space and seating with a nice bar and televisions. Would also be good to take the whole family as I heard they now offer a kids menu.

Lovely new NOLA style eatery that serves Creole comfort food. We started with the avocado fries. They were good. I wish they had just a bit more crust. My wife had the Reuben with fries. She liked that the coleslaw on the sandwich wasn't sweet. It was peppery and vinegary. I ordered the red beans and rice with sausage. It was fab. In a perfect world I'd like the sausage to be spicier. That's not to say it was mild. I'm just a spicy guy. Their bar has an adequate selection of base spirits but they're severely lacking in mixers and liqueurs. But they're just getting started. In fact they don't even have a cocktail menu yet. Nevertheless, the owners have passion and heart. One of the owners, Tracy, gave their new pretzels to those seated at the bar to try. That was a very kind gesture. And they were delicious! My wife is a big fan. She says she may stop there just to pick up an order of those on the way home sometimes. Goob's is off to a good start. I look forward to seeing how they develop. We tried the new place Goob’s Kitchen & Cocktails in Orchards and we will not be going back 😢 Keeping in mind this is a newer restaraunt with new staff—we wanted to give them a chance but unfortunately it was just not a great experience.

The cocktail menu is just a list of all of the alcohol they have. I feel like if you’re going to be a “Kitchen and cocktails” you should have some sort of cocktail menu…for some it may not be an issue but it was just a little weird the way it was mapped out. It took us about 35 minutes to get the 4 drinks our table ordered.

We ordered appetizers as we heard from multiple tables around us they had to send their food back and get their meal comped. The pretzel sticks were good, but the avocados fries were super mushy.

My friend used the bathroom which is down a hallway from the dining area and when she came out of the bathroom there was two workers (a couple we assume) hugging and holding each other in the middle of the hallway, and my friend asked if they could move out of the way politely so she could get by and they proceeded to say something along the lines of “oh sorry, no, you caught us during our hugging time” and didn’t move. She felt pretty uncomfortable during that interaction as she had to ask a 2nd time to get by them.

Our waitress asked us how we wanted our bill split and she offered to split it into 4 checks. It took about 15 minutes to get our check printed for us and the waitress said verbatim “sorry, I had to split the bill into 4 which was ridiculous”. This was probably the main reason I will not be back- just felt very odd and rude to complain to the customers about splitting the bill which she offered to do.

Overall 2/5 experience which is a bummer because it’s so close to my house and I was excited to have a new place to visit regularly. With all of that being said, it is possible that they will get better and work out the kinks so others might have a...
