We lived here a little over two years, and it was very bad overall. The previous management was consistently decent, but the new people, who came in a few months after we did, were like hot and cold with more cold days.
I quickly noticed that the park is segregated depending on how nice and new your RV is. Even if you're staying just a few days, you get put down in the run-down area called Tortilla Flats where the ads are so narrow you can't open your awning without pushing it into the bushes. If you're saying a few days and have a new RV, you stay right out front, or in the section called The Heights where each spot has enough space to open awnings, open sliders, and still have room to park your car beside it, and each pad is a decent size. Many had little dog kennels. Not possible for those in Tortilla Flats. If your RV isn't new enough (no older than 10 years), you don't get to go up there. We were originally given a spot there, then were told to move within the hour since they made a mistake.
Anyone can use the little clubhouse that's located in the nice part, but you're supposed to use the bathroom and laundry room in your section. The lower section's laundry room is usually dirty. Same for the bathroom. There are two showers in that section. One is enclosed, and the other has a glass door so everyone can see you. I got into the bathroom in the upper area once as someone was coming out, and it was VERY nice. Nice enclosed showers, more toilets, nice marble compared to the old tile down below. And the laundry area, which I peeked into, is spacious and has counters to fold stuff instead of the old little table in the laundry room we got to use.
It was really demoralizing to only be paying $20 less for such inferior quality amenities.
To make it worse, they would randomly issue warnings about non-patio stuff outside to those of us in the lower section. We got one when we had a lawn chair outside. The people in the upper section could have their dog kennels and plants and stake in little fences! And even worse than that, a couple times Mike, one of the two managers, sniped at us that we needed to keep our special-needs daughter inside because she laughed too loud when she was outside. It got to the point that it was cruel to keep her caged inside our RV, so we let her out anyway, and then got kicked out of the park. Seriously. While other kids could sometimes get away with riding bikes (only sometimes though their sons were always allowed to ride around), we were given a hard time over our special needs child. Yes, kicking us out was illegal, but we weren't going to keep dealing with what we feel is discrimination.
Beware of holidays. The managers and their kids are often gone for a few days. If you need help with anything, you're SOL until they get back.
I honestly can not recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want to either be treated like an inferior person, or who is uncomfortable being treated as more valuable than other people based on...
Read moreBOOKING. - When booking a site, I called and talked to a male staff member about getting my 58' RV & car trailer into a site and was told that they had a spot where we would fit and if not I could drop my trailer in the overflow parking. He then transferred me to the corp office for booking & I reconfirmed that there was a spot to drop my car trailer. That's $180 for the 2 nights. ||ARRIVAL. - When arriving there was no one there for assistance & when calling the # it went to the booking office. There was no way that I could fit in the pull thru space that we had booked. After talking to a resident she showed us where we could park the car trailer - that was a joke, no way we could even maneuver it in there, let alone drop it. I ended up renting another pull thru space for the same price as my spot for the RV, that was &180 that I wasn't expecting. ||DESIGNATED DOG WALKS - Once parked, I took my dogs for a walk in the designated dog area. OMG, my dogs didn't even want to walk there, the areas were so full of dog poop, you couldn't walk without stepping in it. |The dog walk at the front is the park was practically inaccessible as the people "living" there had taken over and were using it as their space. |The dog walk at the back was approx. 15' x12" with a huge ditch in it. This one had approx. 25 piles of poop. ||LAUNDRY. - The laundry room was OK, |But 2 of the 5 washers were unusable due to crap being left behind (1: looked like a used sanitary pad & other garbage) (2: had some sort of black stuff in it). |I went to use the dispenser for dryer sheets and it took my $$. That's $0.75, but at this point it was a big thing. ||RECREATION ROOMS - I thought that while doing the laundry, I would relax in either of the recreation rooms at the back. The upper room is completely closed as they are renting it out to someone. The one on the ground floor on looked decent but we were not provided a code for entry. ||MAINTENANCE & OVERALL APPEARANCE - Maintenance is a joke.|Many of the spaces are dirty spaces and with dilapidated wooden entry steps, trailers and lots of junk around them.|The weeds were taking over and the garbage areas were horrible. ||STAFF - The one and only time we had contact with an Employee he was arguing with my husband about where we parked our trailer (in the space that we had paid for). He was threatening to have it towed. He backed off when my husband got angry back and told him that we had paid for the space and if he had it towed we'd sue. So, after that threat we kept checking all night to ensure it hadn't been towed. |In closing, I will never stay at The Vancouver RV Park or any of it affiliates. And to think we spent $362 for this experience. I am asking for a full refund and to ensure that you enforce the rules & requirements that you have stated in you email...
Read moreNew MANAGEMENT i like. Owners not so much. Old management i liked. Of course. Everyone minus owners, great loving sweet people. Not. Are not bad. Just doing the best they can in a really tough situation. Its definitely nothing like when Julie and Steph ran it. Nothing like it. Which is sad. No more about the people. Its all money. Breaks my heart. So much potential. So much. I hope they figure it out.
It would be nice for those who stay there to have that sense of community the park once had. The decorative aspect each season. The get togethers. Things like that. Theres just nothing now. Its a windmill. In and out. All about $$$. Not the people who pay it. Its backwards thinking. At Christmas there used to be a lot of rigs with lights up etc. Last Christmas there were 2. So as i stated, i hope they get their act together because at this point its just a big hot mess and thats not going to work. For the tenants, the management who are trying so hard, the owners who could care less, their staff who are equally awesome and doing the best they can with what they are allowed and those who visit. Its just going to fall apart. Or continue to i should say. The potential is there. Lets hope they see that.
Amenities: huh. Well. Wifi is non existent now. Facilities are not cleaned enough or properly now. Hired out service for that. Nice to see a change machine in laundry now tho. Rec room is awesome. Coffee served. Thank you Dean for continuing that. Gated but gate doesnt work. Twice had to stay in a hotel since gate wouldnt open. Nice idea that just didnt work out. Tv cable but few channels and spotty. Things just need to be upgraded. Again the potential is there.
The photos reflect prior to new owners. Not after. Theres a huge difference between then and now. The photo used in google is not of the park. Someone...
