EDIT! The business is under new management and things are not right in the Emerald City. There is no magic at the end of the Yellow brick road.
This used to be our absolute favorite Boba place in town, the nicest munchkin staff, the best boba, an absolute must stop after stuffing our faces with sushi next door. But it seems something has changed. When asked questions about the menu the young woman behind the counter looked like a deer in the headlights. They were out of boba. There were items on the digital menu that they “don’t do anymore”. It feels like their heart is not in it.
Worst of all… the drink I got tasted off. It tasted… stale. Like one of the ingredients had been sitting around for a long time. I’ve had these mixes at most of the boba places in town and in fact I make them at home and this is a first. It tastes like someone does not throw out old product that should be made fresh regularly. I’ll try again, but they should try and hire the kids who used to work there. They knew what they were doing.
And why are they turning down the lights? All in all, the place seems like it is on a collision course for disaster. The new owners needs to focus. I don’t see heart here and without that, I don’t see a lot of hope. END EDIT.
It was great! The Matcha Milk Boba was that odd sweet smoky that is like nothing else in America and my wife’s Honeydew Boba finished off our sushi dinner from next door perfectly! The staff were cheerful, charming, and most importantly, helpful. I have not ordered Matcha Boba in many years, not since it first seeped into the states back in the 90’s, back when we called it Bubble Tea and the servers rarely spoke any English.
It was exciting back then, this strange new stuff and we went home and tried and failed to make it ourselves and honestly for the life of me I never thought it would steep into the general culture of America. It was a China Town thing. Something you got when you traveled or when you were at the Asian market and now there are Boba places everywhere.
And old men like me are thankful that the young people behind the counter take the time to explain the bewildering assortment of combinations and possibilities. Not to mention that they do so with good humor and grace. Treat these young folk well, it can’t be easy and don’t forget to tip.
So… I know it’s mostly formulas with powders and procedures and processes and such so it all balances on one thing. I mean it’s a fairly simple process so success hinges on customer care. The staff here were patent, cheerful and kind. They made me feel welcome and that’s money in the bank. Both of them were great although I only got Angie’s name, thank you Angie! You both...
Read moreWas super excited to try this place after seeing their store online! My mistake, should've checked the reviews first. Went in to no one around, no workers or customers. It was absolutely silent, only after me and my sister started whispering to talk did a associate come out from the back on his phone.
While ordering most of the menu options we wanted to try were tapped on the TV screen, ig they were out, which is fine since at least they made that aware. But when we ordered, most if the toppings we wanted to try as well as drinks were discontinued. So half of their menu was a lie.
Worker had a headphone in while we ordered. After taking our order he took the people after us but wasn't listening when they asked a question. The dessert menu screen was turned off which seems weird for it being 2pm.
My sister ordered the white peach tea, it was watered down, didn't taste like peach at all, tasted more like straight black tea with a little sugar. I ordered the mango tea with boba and lychee jelly. Mine was also watered down and does not taste like mango.
If you'd like to save your money and get something that actually tastes decent while getting amazing service and a fun atmosphere, I recommend not going here and trying short and sweet in downtown Vancouver. They were closed today so we tried something new, our mistake. We will be sticking with our...
Read moreI'm glad the recent reviews made my experience more justified and I'll share my thoughts too. I rarely write reviews for anything but for anybody googling this place I hope I give you the proper warning you deserve. This happened roughly a week ago.
I recently just moved close to this place and thought I'd give it a try. I was greeted by 2 people and hit with the "well I was on break but ok how can I help?" There wasnt a sign or anything but the place was dimly lit so idk if that was my que to come back later but they insisted on what I wanted. I don't remember what else was on the menu but they were nearly out of everything so I settled on a Thai tea. The boba pearls themselves came out fine as expected but this was just straight up water.
If you needed a break and needed me to screw off just say so. I get food service and I know its hella stressful with minimum time off but if I'm the only person at your door and you can't deliver on one drink I was in no way in a hurry for I'm not confident I'll show up again anytime in the future.
Edit: I got bored and checked at all to see if they improved. Noticed how many fake reviews y'all got rather than improving. Time will tell if y'all stay in business cause you could only deliver a sub-par experience that really sticks with you unless it's money laundering which I highly suspect it is. DO NOT...
