This place was exactly what I was looking for! It's a lot like looking for a good massage, for most people, just getting touched is great, but the more you get, the more you want it to be really great. And just like massage, it's the whole package, from the food to the staff to the decor. Pho Le hit it right on all points. I love the plants that lend a feeling of personal opulence, like being in my own little jungle. It adds a great atmosphere as well as giving some privacy from other diners. I loved the flowers on the table. I loved the choice of condiments at the front table. I loved the little pocket store off to the side. In short, it was the set up for a perfect date. When the Bun Cari Ga (Curry soup) arrived and was slide in front of me it was like bells going off! I mean it was beautiful! A thing of wonder and delight. The color was like the gold of dreams with unknown depths and tantalizing mystery. And it was perfect from first sip to last slurp. It was complicated and just slightly sweet with a perfect umami mouth feel. The people in this neighborhood have a treasure in their midst. I could see what looked like a lot of regulars hunkering down for their afternoon love fest. It's a long way from my usual haunts, particularly with the ridiculous big truck with its awful milage, but certain things are worth the trip. There is an old buddhist saying about the longer the journey, the more important the destination. Arrive....
Read moreOne of my favorite pho places in PNW. I always order the pho tai, which is tender, thin-sliced beef flank cooked in a flavorful hot broth with noodles. When I ordered it on a delivery app, the beef showed up perfectly chilled and I was amazed by how fresh it was. Even my boyfriend who usually hates meat was tempted (and our cat wanted a slice too!)
The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s a gem and the food is cooked with love.
They also told me the restaurant name is pronounced more like “Fuh Lay” (not Foe Lee) but I digress, this food is delicious.
Note: The rare steak slices are supposed to be cooked in the broth so don’t be shocked when you order delivery, the beef should be raw! Just heat your broth to around boiling and drop some slices in. It’s so thin, it cooks right away and warms the...
Read moreI've been here before and was satisfied with the pho enough to come back. But this time wasn't a good experience. Another customer was in the restaurant with their service dog who was sitting on the floor. I don't have a problem with that. The cook seemed to know this person and their dog, and began petting the dog. Also no big deal. Until we watched the cook walk back into the kitchen and begin handling both raw and cooked food without washing his hands. With that, we informed the waitress of the health code violations and that we were going to cancel our order. Two other couples chose to...
